Taste of Portugal
8 nights – Lisbon & Algarve
1st dayArrival at Lisbon International Airport
Transfer and check-in at Bairro Alto Hotel
Bairro Alto Hotel Lisbon is a 5-star boutique hotel in central
Lisbon, located in the heart of historic downtown, between two
of the most emblematic city districts, the bohemian Bairro Alto
and the chic, cultural and trendy Chiado.
A luxury boutique hotel, both cosmopolitan and trendy with a
harmonious blend of old and new, that offers an excellent service
in an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation. A unique and special
place in the city of Lisbon, within walking distance to major
shops, theatres, museums, restaurants and bars.
Dinner in the City
Located in one of the most typical quarters of the capital, this
small but pleasant restaurant is one of the places where you can
eat good fish. A main character here, the cod is served in fritters,
baked in the oven, at Brás or Varina style, baked in the oven on a
tray of clay. But this restaurant has also a history of its own, as
many famous Fado musicians and singers have been its guests as
well as José Saramago, who lunched and dined here for years in a
row.
2nd dayRound at Quinta do Perú Golf course
With the Arrábida mountains as its backdrop, the Quinta do Peru Golf Course offers amateurs a pleasant game,
whilst also presenting a challenge for professionals. It was voted amongst the top 10 courses in Portugal in the
biennial poll organized by the European Golf magazine. With its many trees and wild flowers, the course
provides a varied start, for the first three holes consist of a par 5, a 386-metre par 4 and a 186-metre par 3.
Amongst the first nine holes, attention is drawn to the short eighth hole, with a lake in front of its green.
The next nine holes are even more difficult. Number 12 is a par 4 which, although not very long, has a lake
running beside the fairway and down to the green. Then comes what is probably the most difficult test on the
course: hole 16, a 200-metre par 3, where one needs to play over a lake to reach the green. The course´s
recognized quality has led to its hosting several events from the European Challenge Tour. The friendly family
atmosphere makes this club one of the most highly regarded in Portuguese golf, its diversified course offering
excellent views over the surrounding countryside.
Wine Tasting at José Maria da Fonseca Cellar (Azeitão)
The tour starts in the Museum Room with a brief summary of
the company’s history. Then, after enjoying a walk through the
lovely gardens, visitors have the opportunity of visiting
three cellars. The first is called Adega da Mata, where the
famous Periquita matures in oak casks. We then proceed to the
Teares Novos Cellar, venue for the sumptuous annual assembly
of the Periquita Brotherhood, and finally we come to the Teares
Velhos Cellar, where the oldest Setubal Moscatels slumber in
silence. The tour ends with a tasting of two wines, a red or white
table wine and a Setúbal Moscatel (young).
Dinner in the City“Fado” is the most famous expression of the Lisbon’s soul music,
and whose roots go back to the old and so unique quarter of
Alfama. This restaurant is located in middle of Alfama, on a very
old building, that was in the past a Palace’s stable.
Featuring the traditional Portuguese gastronomy, based on the
tastiest recipes, this fantastic restaurant is considered by the
locals, the best in town, where Fado, together with excellent
food, really make the difference. Mário Pacheco, the owner, is
also considered one of the best Portuguese guitar performers,
and just to listen to his music is worthwhile going there.
3rd dayDeep Sea Fishing Experience
All day fishing, departure from Lisbon marina, with barbecue lunch
included.
On a typical day out sea fishing, you might first find bream, sole,
grouper and jewfish, then as you head further out you pass over an
extension of the continental platform where medium size fish build
their nests and swim in big shoals giving you the opportunity to try
and catch anchovy, mackerel, sea bream, rock bass, conger eel and
spurdog. Finally as you head out towards the open sea there are
shoals of tuna, sharks, sawfish and sprat waiting to test your skill!
Enjoy your day at sea.
The focal point of Quinta da Marinha is the Championship golf course
Oitavos Golf, designed by Arthur Hills. As the course became recognized
internationally as a Links experience, the decision was made to change
the name to Oitavos Dunes to reflect the natural sand dunes, impacts of
the Ocean and Scottish like playing conditions, which all contribute to
the way many view Oitavos Dunes as "Natural Links Golf."
Last September 2011 Oitavos Dunes jumped 20 places up the list to be
considered the 68th best course in the world and the second best in
mainland Europe. The recognition is a result of 15 minor changes to the
course, including new tees on holes 7 and 9, and the placement of sand
dunes in strategic holes such as the 10th.
4th dayRound at Oitavos Dunes

and the cork oak. Walk through the cork groves with us, hear the stories, find out about the techniques for
preparing and processing cork and, on the way, discover a whole range of flavours and sensations that you

Nature, Rural Life, Tradition, Innovation and Knowledge, which are the different thematic hubs of this itinerary.
7th dayRound at Palmares Course
Onyria Palmares Golf - links and parkland in a spectacular
seaside setting, within the natural amphitheater of the Bay of
Lagos, Robert Trent Jones II has fashioned Europe’s next great
golf course, Onyria Palmares Golf. The brief given to this
exceptional American golf course designer was to craft a 27-hole
golf course which maximized the potential of its extraordinary
environment. The result is a golf course of breathtaking natural
beauty which is a delight to play. Robert Trent Jones II designed
the golf course with the highest level of international
tournament golf in mind as well as a pleasurable golf experience
for members and tourists alike. There is plenty of challenge, if
that’s what you want – especially from the white tees! Onyria
Palmares Golf is composed of three returning nine-hole loops
that can be played in any sequence. The genius in the routing is
that, depending on the sequence of play, each golf experience is
different. Each nine-hole loop – Alvor, Lagos and Praia - has its
own character and ambience.
Wine Tasting at Palmares
Dinner at a typical Portuguese Restaurant
Many questions are asked about the origin of this name. Perhaps
because of its complex origin, the answer is not uniform… It is
somewhat tailored at the mercy of those who visit us. Developed from
a centenarian shelter and rooted in the Algarvian pearl, the restaurant
joins in all its presentations, the old dream of a chef and the
refinement of gastronomic "bon goût", sharing unique and gleaming
moments with its customers. We open the doors of this antique store
in the hope that your presence will embrace our establishment."
Observe, feel, breath and taste.
8th dayRound at Monte Rei Course
The Monte Rei golf course is set in the picturesque foothills of the
Eastern Algarve, with sweeping views of the Serra do Caldeirão
mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The first
of two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses - "Monte Rei North" -
opened for play in June 2007. This par 72 Championship golf course
measuring 6567m from the Tournament tees is a truly unique design;
with water coming into play on eleven of the eighteen holes, the golf
course features an enjoyable series of eight par-4s, five par-3s and
five par-5s in a challenging and distinctive layout. The golf course's
presentation is highly individual, each hole a design gem blending
effortlessly into this natural canvas, from its ingeniously shaped and
sculptured bunkers, to the impressive presentation and attention to
detail making every hole as remarkable as the next; fairways and
greens are bordered by several lakes, indigenous plants, native
grasses and trees adding drama to the landscape, and providing
golfers with unforgettable moments to cherish in this unique and
tranquil golf environment.
