DESCRIPTION

HISTORY The history of the church is connected with the neighbouring St. Ann‘s church. The picture of Virgin Mary was painted on the plaster of the south- eastern outer wall at some time in the 16th century. While other parts of the church facade needed restoration because of bad influence of the weather, the picture of Virgin Mary kept undamaged. In 1724 this memorable portrait got a shelter in a shape of a chapel when the count Antonín Roombalt Collalto let it build on his own expense. Thanks to numerous pilgrimages the chapel was changed into a big pilgrimage church. It happened under the count Thomas Collalto.

Its construction started in 1744. The church is built in the late baroque style. However, the construction drew out until 1769. The two characteristic towers were finished only in 1936, thanks to the collection of the parish priest B. Blažek. The church is 40 metres long, 16 metres wide and 26 metres tall without the towers. It was reconstructed after 1960 including new slabs and repair of the  altars. A new organ and pews were also provided.

SOME DATA ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF THE PILGRIMAGE LORD’S CHURCH IN PŘIBYSLAVICE The chapel with the picture of Virgin Mary was consecrated on 10th September 1724. (Now a  presbytery). Because the chapel wasn´t big enough for a large number of the pilgrims, a sponsor of that time, Tomáš Vinciquerra, the count of Collatto, built the present church with the help of all parishioners in 1748-1764 (generally called a new church), using the existing chapel as a presbytery. His death stopped the work and the church kept without the towers until today. The current parish priest P. Bohuslav Blažek gave himself the aim to collect and save the most necessary capital for building the towers. After 10 years he has collected so much money among the pilgrims and different givers that this year - 1936 - the towers are going to be built. The construction of the towers is going to be made by the builder Jaroslav Herzán from  Třebíč according to a design of the architect Kamil Hilbert. In the picture there is the Lord’s Church with the designed towers.
