Netball
We are proud of all our students who play for their sporting team out of school hours. I am happy to report that two of our girls were in the Under-13 Div 3 Tatura Blue Netball team that narrowly beat the Tatura Red team by two points! Congratulations to Hannah Newman and Olivia Ste-vens (Blue) and Chloe Newman (Red).
Parent opinion Survey
Thank you to the families who completed the survey in recent weeks. We look forward to analysing the results in Term 4 to see what our strengths are and the areas for development.
Pupil Free Days
Next term we plan to have our fourth and final pupil free day to further the professional development of our staff. School Council will set the date and we will publish it as soon as pos-sible.

Playgroup
Watch this space! Next term we will be introducing a play-group with a focus on music and fun. To be run by our music teacher, Nicole Thorne, we are excited about inviting Mums, dads and their young ones to join in.
Construction Zone
During the holidays we will be having some major building and maintenance work done at school and I remind everyone that the school grounds (apart from the undercover play-ground) are out of bounds out of school hours. The works are very exciting. In a nutshell, we will have new flooring laid in the toilets and breezeway area; new whiteboards in 7 rooms; roofing replaced; new wall in the before and after school care room; new carpet in the library and music room, and more…… We are also looking forward to further develop-ments in the sensory playground.
Tatura Junior Cricket
Tatura Cricket Club will again be fielding teams for boys and girls of all age groups this summer. The season kicks off in the second week of October with training starting next week (Wed 20 Sept).
The club has some keen girls and hopes to have many more join up for this season. The club is also seeking a coordinator for the Milo In2Cricket program. The progam runs for just 10 weeks and can be run at a time that suits the coordinators. If you are interested, please contact Rohan Forster on 0427 443 400. The Envirokids are working hard to reduce waste at school so as of next term…
All students and staff will
take their recess/ lunch
rubbish home with them!!!
Any wrappers or packaging that is not recyclable will come home in lunchboxes for disposal. Students will eat both their recess and lunch inside, in an effort to reduce what our whole school sends to landfill each week.
Of course the Envirokids strongly encourage all students and staff use reusable named containers.
Don’t panic, as this is a great opportunity to get organised during the holidays and save some money at the same time! Instead of
buying individually packaged foods, buy in bulk and share into containers! Get out the recipe books to make some treats and freeze, have a washable sandwich container instead of using costly cling wrap!
Each class has a 3 bin system: waste, compost and recycling. Next term the Envirokids will be replacing each classroom’s waste bin with a smaller one.
Thanks for your support of this Envirokids’
initiative, in working towards reducing waste at TPS.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
This Term, our school is participating in the Jump Rope for Heart program. During PE as well as at recess and lunch times, students have been jumping individually, with partners and in groups; improving their cardiovascular fitness, coordination and having a great deal of fun in the process.
In return for the resources and equipment the Heart Foundation provide our school in order to undertake this program, we are asked to fundraise towards The Heart Foundation’s valuable research into heart disease (which affects 2 out of every 3 families)
Our School’s goal is to raise $1000 for the Heart Foundation: just $5 per student will help us achieve.
They now offer registration for fundraising online - It’s easy, safe and secure. Simply visit www.jumprope.org.au , select ‘Kids’ and follow the prompts to register your child through the Everyday Hero process that is linked to Tatura Primary School’s fundraising page. This page also allows you to email family and friends if they would like to contribute and no cash-handling is required.
Paper fundraising forms are also available if required.
Help your child to have fun, gain new skills and support the Heart Foundation at the same time. Let’s see how many tricks we can master and how much we can raise!
Join us on Thursday 21st of September for a whole school Jump Off to showcase our skipping skills and celebrate our achievements.

Monday 18 September
Fifty two grade 3/4 students headed off recently to Campaspe Downs Kyneton for a two
night adventure camp. After morning tea in Bendigo and lunch at a park in Kyneton, we
ventured to the camp, one which was new to TPS. After settling into our dorms with our
room mates we met the camp manager Nic and headed off for our first activities.
Over the three days the children participated in a range of outdoor adventure activities
including: raft building, orienteering, mud run, bushcraft, archery and aero ball. They also
got to swim in the indoor heated pool. For most activities we were guided by qualified in-
structors.
The food was sensational and fuelled us for some very busy days. Over the two evenings
the children joined in on the fun of Wacky Races and toasted marshmallows and sang
songs around the campfire.
We really thank Mrs Meka and our parent helpers Scott Field and Andrew Wills for coming
along and making our camp so successful, to Miss Evans for all of the organisation in-
volved behind the scenes to make it all work and to Miss Miller and Mrs Crosbie for their
support. We also congratulate the 3/4 children for being terrific campers, well done!

5/6’S CAMP ADVENTURE!
Well, 5/6 are back from their adventure to Log Cabin Camp in Creswick. It was an adven-
ture and a half !
Early Wednesday morning all the 5/6’s turned up with their mountain of clothes to trav-
el to Bendigo for morning tea and a tour of the old Central Deborah mine. When we got
off the bus excitement was in the air! After a brief break and talk by the guides we went
down the mines with our safety helmets on. A caged elevator greeted us and we made our
descent down. After 90 minutes of exploring the old mine we returned to the surface so
we could keep going to Log Cabin Camp, Creswick.
Around 4 o’clock we finally got to Log Cabin Camp. After becoming acquainted with our
cabin mates we headed off for activities. One rather popular activity was the giant swing.
It was a great challenge for some to conquer these great heights but most did! This was
showing great courage. Well done to all who did the giant swing. After activities we head-
ed off to dinner then a movie before a well-earned sleep!
Thursday was our main day. After a hearty breakfast the group set off to Sovereign Hill
for the day. A highlight for many was the lolly shop! The two groups also completed an
education session which gave an entertaining and factual insight into the life of the people
during the 1850’s. At 3 o’clock we set off back to camp to get prepared for the sound and
light show.
The sound and light show was a masterpiece of cleverly timed dialogue and narrations
which gave an almost eye witness account of the Eureka Stockade. It was a perfect way to
showcase this horrible tragedy which gave birth to Australian democracy. After the show
we again departed for camp and a sleep.
Friday was our final day of this amazing camp. After waking up and having breakfast we
packed our stuff and had two activities. These were really great activities which would
make even adults squeal with laughter. At noon we departed for home which was 4 hours
away! After returning home we all got our possessions and left for our beds and the televi-
sion. On behalf of the students I would like to thank the teachers and also the team at
Log Cabin Camp for this terrific camp which will be in our minds for years to come. Benjamin Andonoudis
