Colonization history and population demography

Sakhalin and Hokkaido Islands population demography

«founder effect»• several colonizations ?• not enough time for the genetic drift ?

Sakhalin IslandHokkaido Island

According to SRY data Islands are genetically identical, but cytochrome b analysis shows us great differences. It may be the result of more active dispersion of males compared to females.
