The answer is at the National Computer Camp at Baldwin Wallace University in Cleveland, OH. Overnight and day programs as well as an optional sports program are also available. Campers may attend one or multi-week sessions with a continuous curriculum that is age appropriate and suitable for beginners to advanced. The camp is ideal for both experienced and first time campers. The coed campers, ages 8-18 enjoy small group instruction; each camper has his/her own computer. Now in its 39th year, NCC is America’s original computer camp; in 1977 Dr. Zabinski, a professor at Fairfield University, established the very first of these educational summer camps coining the phrase“Computer Camp”. NCC is where campers arrive with a dream and leave with a future. For further information and a brochure visit the camp at www.NCCamp.com e-mail: [email protected] or call 203- 710-5771. Summer camps are a great idea for children to spend their vacations. These camps have a variety of activities that can keep your child busy throughout the summer. Along with fun and games, these camps have activities that can help in the overall development of the child. As such summer camps are becoming very popular among kids of all age groups. There are two main kinds of summer camps: overnight camps and day camps. So what is the difference between overnight camp and day camp and how can parents choose which the best camp suitable for their kids is? Let us understand the difference between the two camps. As the name suggest, overnight camps are camps where the child has to stay in the camp for the entire duration, which could range from one to four weeks. But in a day camp the child has to attend the camp in the morning and leaves for his home in the evening. Overnight camps are for kids who want to spend time away from home with their friends and want to learn to become responsible and independent citizens. Day camps are for kids who would love to participate in many activities but prefer to come home at night. The budget part also helps to decide which summer camp to choose from. Summer overnight camps are costlier than day camps, as they involve costs of lodging and boarding also. Normally for first timers, day camps are more suitable than overnight camps. So day camps are always the first option. Once they get used to spending a complete day away from home, parents can send them to overnight camps too. Although there is a difference between overnight camp and day camp, most of the activities followed here are very similar. As a result whatever summer camp you may choose, it will always act as a catalyst in your child’s physical and mental growth. Day camps vs. overnight camps

Preparing a packing list for when yousend your child off to summer camp is anextremely important part of going to camp. For parents who are sending their child tosummercampforthefirsttime, itcanevenbea littleoverwhelming. This isbecause the lastthing a parent wants is to send their child tocamp and worry about if they forgot to packsomethingimportant.Fortunately,preparingapackinglistisagreatwaytogiveyoupeaceofmind.The best way to organize your packinglist is to break it up into six different sectionsincluding: headgear, clothing, bedding, footwear, toiletries, andmiscellaneousitems.

HeadgearHeadbands, bandannas, and hair ties

are all good items to pack because they willkeep your child’s hair and sweat out of theirface. Hats should be packed because theywill keep sun out of your child’s face as well

as protect their skin from UV rays. Naturally, packing their prescription glasses or contactlensesisagiven.Otherheadgearitemsincludesunglasses,swimminggogglesandheadlampsfornighttimeactivities.

ClothingThe clothing you should pack should

includeajacket, jeans, sweatshirt, sweatpants, raincoat, a swim suit, t-shirts, tank tops, andunderwear. Pack for comfort and the climateofthecamp.Remember,campcanbeagrungyplace,sothingsthatdon’tshowdirt/stainsareagoodchoice.

BeddingYou are going to want to read the

information packet about the specific park inordertolearnwhatkindofbeddingitemsyoushouldpackforyourchild.Thiscouldincludeabedroll, blanket, mattress pad, pillows, pillowcases, sheets, and/or a sleeping bag. The

packet from your camp should tell you whatyourchildneedsandwhattheydonotneed.

FootwearThefootwearyoupackmayincludeboots,

water shoes, crocs, sandals (or flip-flops)sneakers,andsocks.Makesureyoupackafewextra socks. It is better for your child to havetoomanythantorunout.

ToiletriesItisimportanttomakesureyoupackplenty

oftowelsaswellasplentyof insectrepellent.Other toiletry items include: baby powder, acomb(orbrush)deodorant, femininehygieneitems, lipbalm, shampoo, bodywash, andlotsof sunscreen. Check your camp checklist forrecommendations.

MiscellaneousItemsItemsthatdonotreallyfitinacategory,but

should also be packed for your child include

books, magazines, a camera (disposableones are the best option), a fishing pole, aflashlight with extra batteries, a laundry bag, playing cards, a water canteen, and writingpaper (with envelopes and stamps). If yourcampallowselectronicdeviceslikephonesordigital cameras, be sure to pack the chargingcableandmaybeextraSDcardstosavemorepictures.

Most parents are a little overwhelmed bythe number of items that they should packfortheirchildwhentheygoawaytosummercamp. This leads them to wonder if they arepacking too much. Generally, the campinginformationpacketfromyourcampwillmakesuggestionsregardingwhatyourchildneeds. However, it is always better for your child tohavetoomuchthenforthemtodiscovertheyneedsomethingthatyoudidnotpack.
