TCI Proving Procedure for a Dresser Model 5 Prover

1. Entering the TCI Proving Mode. a. Press the Pushbutton on the TCI until LIVEDIAL is displayed on the LCD

c. Press and hold the Pushbutton until PROVE TC is displayed on the LCD Display. PROVE TC indicates that a Temperature Compensated test is going to be performed.

d. Shortly after Prove TC is displayed, the Cubic Feet per pulse for the test is displayed. It will either be 1 CF/P or 10 CF/P and is based on the size and type of the meter. This value will be needed later in this procedure.

e. The LCD Display will toggle between the Flowrate reading and the words

PROVE TC during the test. f. To perform an Uncorrected Test, press the Pushbutton once. The LCD

Display will show PROVE UC. PROVE UC indicates that an Uncorrected test is going to be performed.

g. Shortly after Prove UC is displayed, the Cubic Feet per pulse for the test is

displayed. It will either be 1 CF/P or 10 CF/P and is based on the size and type of the meter. This value will be needed later in this procedure.

2. TCI Proving Adapter Cable a. Locate the USB Connector and the Five Pin Prover Connector on the TCI

b. Plug the Five Pin Prover Connector into the small blue prover box of the Dresser Model 5 Prover, on the port labeled “I.D. Pulser”.

c. Plug the USB Connector into a USB Port on the laptop used to run the prover tests. You will not have to load any drivers. This connection is simply used to power the TCI Proving Adapter.

d. The Yellow LED on the TCI Proving Adapter will illuminate indicating that power is applied to the TCI Proving Adapter.

e. Slide the TCI Proving Adapter into the IRDA Port of the TCI.

f. The Green LED will illuminate indicating that the TCI Proving Adapter is “linked” to the TCI.

g. The Red LED will blink every time a pulse is sent from the TCI Proving Adapter to the Dresser Model 5 Prover.

3. Prover Configuration a. Start the DMD Transfer Prover Software and click on the “Configure/Run

Meter Test” button.

b. In the Prover Capacity field, select the appropriate Master Meter that will be used for the test.

c. In the Test Control Mode field, select Optical Scanner.

d. Meter Output field i. If you are performing an Uncorrected Test on the TCI, set the

Meter Output for Uncorrected.

ii. If you are performing a Temperature Compensated Test on the TCI, set the Meter Output for (TC) Temperature Corrected and select DIAPHRAGM TC (CONTINUOUSLY COMPENSATED) in the TC Options field.

e. Set the Flow Rate and Volume for the test based on your companies procedures.

f. Set the Drive Rate/PPT based off of Table 1.

g. Repeat Steps e and f for additional tests at a different Flow Rate.

h. Press “Start” to run the test.

4. Exiting the TCI Proving Mode. a. If you were performing a Temperature Compensated Test on the TCI,

press the Pushbutton twice to exit the TCI Proving Mode. Continue pressing the Pushbutton until the Corrected Volume index reading is displayed.

b. If you were performing an Uncorrected Test on the TCI, press the Pushbutton once to exit the TCI Proving Mode. Continue pressing the Pushbutton until the Corrected Volume index reading is displayed.
