Shepherds in the field (Clap, clap, clap)

Watching over their sheep. (Baa, baa, baa!)

Very, very tired, (Yawn, stretch)

Almost asleep. (Drop head and close eyes.)

Suddenly awake! (Jerk head up and open eyes.)

A big, bright light! (Shake hands over your head.)

Angels in the sky, (Wave hands over your head.)

Shattering the night! (Clap hands and jump.)

Joyful news—(Clap, clap, clap)

Christ the Lord is here! (Hooray!)

Lying in a manger (Rock arms as if rocking a baby.)

In a stable near. (Point over your shoulder.)

Go find the baby (Turn around quickly and run in place.)

In the manger bed. (Rock arms as if rocking a baby.)

He’s the Son of God (Kneel down.)

As the angels said. (While kneeling down, raise hands over head.)

Tell everybody (Turn quickly from one person to another.)

Of the stable birth. (Rock arms as if rocking a baby.)

Praise God above (Clap hands over your head.)

And God on the earth! (Clap, clap, clap)

DiscussionImagine you were a shepherd on the night of Jesus’ birth. How would you have reacted to the angels’ message? What did the shepherds do as soon as they saw Jesus for themselves? How can we do the same thing today? Is Christmas a good time to tell people about Jesus? Why?

Bible Verse“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)

The angel told Mary to call her baby Jesus. He told Joseph the baby’s name would be Immanuel. In this verse are three more names for Jesus. What are they? What do they mean? (Savior—one who saves, the same as Jesus; Christ—Messiah or Anointed One; Lord—Master)
