Dr. Mark DeDomenico and Mike Pegram=s lightlyraced sophomore Blonde Fog (Divine Park), off since acourageous runner-up finish in the GI Hollywood StarletS. Dec. 8 (video), is nearing a return to the races. The speedy bay, tabbed as a J “TDN Rising Star” J following a powerful 12 1/2-length wire-to-wiredebut win over subsequentMGSW & MGISPFiftyshadesofhay (Pulpit)going two turns at SantaAnita last October (video),proved more than ready forthe big stage in her nextstart. Harassed early on thefront end in the Starlet, shebegan to shake clear througha half mile in :47.33, thenhad to deal with a freshchallenge from two-timeGrade I winner and GI Breeders= Cup Juvenile Filliesrunner-up Executiveprivilege (First Samurai). Blonde Foghad no problem putting that classy rival away andkicked on for home nicely, but just couldn=t withstand aspectacular last-to-first rally from Pure Fun (Pure Prize),who proved best by a length. Placed on the shelf thereafter, Blonde Fog has been insteady training since early June. Under the watchfuleye of Mike Puhich, she put in eight drills atDeDomenico=s Pegasus Training Center in Washington, capped by a six-furlong breeze in 1:15 July 26. BlondeFog has continued to move forward since rejoining BobBaffert in Southern California, turning in a pair of five-furlong bullets in Inglewood Sept. 1 and 8. BLACK-TYPE PREVIEWS

Lot 16 SUperplex (Rating 112 / 1800-2000m)C.10 Multiplex x Salute The Sun (Fly To The Stars)

In training with Michael Figge this colt lost his maiden tag at the age of two. After a successful reappearance in the le Prix du Pré Catelan (B race) in the spring at Longchamp the three year old colt was aimed at the Prix Greffulhe (Gr.2) in which he finished a good fourth. He returned back to winning ways over 1800m on 1 July at Compiègne in the Prix Daphnis (Gr.3) where he easily got the better of Pilote, twice placed at Group 2 level since.

Lot 36 chalnetta(Rating 111 / 2400m)F.10 Oratorio x Aifa (Johann Quatz)

This three year old filly trained by Christophe Ferland revealed the extent of her talent from a young age and has progressed well ever since. At the end of May in Bordeaux she won the Derby du Midi (L.) and proved head and shoulders superior to her rivals which included colts on the day. On her first start at Group 2 level, she finished second in the Prix de Malleret at Saint-Cloud before finishing second again in the Prix de Pomone, not beaten far by the excellent André Fabre trained La Pomme d’Amour.

Lot 29 viSiyani (Rating 102 / 1600-2000m)C.10 Rock Of Gibraltar x Visionnaire (Linamix)

As a 2yo this son of Rock Of Gibraltar and the dual Group 1 placed Visionnaire won first time out before being placed twice at Group 3 level, in the Prix des Chênes and in the Prix Thomas Bryon. This year the grandson of Linamix won the Prix Banstar, a B race run over a mile at Maisons-Laffitte before heading to the United States to take part in the Secretariat Stakes (Gr.1) at Arlington where he finished an honourable fifth.

Lot 46 Beatrice(Rating 105 / 1600m)F.10 Dr Fong x Brangäne (Anita’s Prince)

A half sister to German Group 2 winner Belcore, this Henri-Alex Pantall trained daughter of Dr Fong already stood out at the age of two, finishing second in the Prix des Sablonnets (L.) before being placed third in a Group 3 at Krefeld. Particularly effective over a mile, she has won twice at Group 3 level this year, first taking the Karin Baronin von Ullmann Schwarzgold-Rennen on 5 May at Cologne, then the International Istanbul Trophy on 7 September this year at Veliefendi.

Lot 17 oppoSite(Rating 113 / 2000m)G.09 Dansili x Silver Rain (Rainbow Quest)

A 4yo gelding trained by André Fabre, this Wertheimer & Frère homebred has had a fruitful season. He won his first two starts this year, most notably the Prix du Logis (B race) which he won by 5 lengths. On 28 July at Munich, this son of Dansili snatched a hard fought second place in the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis (Gr.1) over 2000m.

Lot 47 my catch(Rating 102 / 1200m)C.11 Camacho x Catch The Sea (Barathea)

On his second start in June this year, this two year old belonging to Qatar Racing finished a close up and promising fifth in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. At 78, Lukas is Comeback Kid“Lukas' comeback actually started in the Breeders' Cup last fall when hewon the Juvenile Sprint with Hightail. It was his first Breeders' Cup win inseven years. But it was easy at the time to dismiss the win as a fluke. The Juvenile Sprint was a terrible race and Hightail didn't look like ahorse with any kind of future.” Bill Finley, ESPN

Do You Have What it Takes to Own a Racehorse?“The average income of a racehorse owner is difficult to figure. Notevery race horse owner is extravagantly wealthy, but it helps to have alot of extra cash to burn. The annual cost of keeping a competitive racehorse, according to Forbes, is about $60,000. For quick comparision, that’s equivalent to a year of tuition, housing and books at an Ivy Leaguecollege.” Sam Wood, Philly.com

NYRA and Horseman Reaping Benefits of Aqueduct Racino Profits“Sir Michael arrived on these shores from the Caribbean just before his20th birthday and, after a few years learning the trade, set up as atrainer in Newmarket in 1972. He’s literally been a winner ever since.”Jerry Bossert, New York Daily News

Gift Horses: Slots Players Send $1.5 Billion Bouquet to PA’s RaceIndustry“Last year, Parx became the first track outside the Breeders’ Cup tooffer two $1 million races during one event, although not onePennsylvania-based horse placed in any of the three stakes races thatday. In fact, the entire $2.3 million in stakes money was won bynon-Pennsylvania owners. Yet, few might know that most of that money,as well as most of the purses that go to owners of winning horses, is notfunded by people placing bets on horses. Rather, it’s funded by the tensof thousands of small-time Pennsylvania casino patrons who play —and lose at — slot machines.” Sam Wood & Frank Kummer,Philly.com

14.00 Newbury, Mdn, ,7,000, 2yo, 6f 8ydsTLady Rothschild=s homebred CAPE WRATH (GB)(Verglas {Ire}) is a 3/4-brother to the 2004 GI ClementHirsch Memorial, 2005 GI Charles WhittinghamMemorial and 2005 GI Sword Dancer Invitationalplacegetter Vangelis (Highest Honor {Fr}), and he faces10 opponents in this unveiling. Forecast soft goingshould be of more help than hindrance as offspring ofVerglas have shown a penchant for such conditionsand, with his sibling also boasting easy-ground scoresin the 2003 G3 Grand Prix de Vichy and 2004 G2 Prixd=Harcourt, the portents are good for the RichardHannon trainee.
