Their worth is ever increasing. New Delhi, July 19 The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today interacted with citizens from villages across the country which has been electrified since 2014. The interaction covered the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana - 'Saubhagya' scheme, through video bridge. This is the tenth interaction in the series by the Prime Minister through video conference with the beneficiaries of various Government schemes. Expressing delight in interacting with the villagers from the recently electrified 18000 villages, PM interacts with beneficiaries of Rural Electrification & Saubhagya Schemes through video bridge Prime Minister said "People who have not seen darkness, don't understand the meaning of illumination. Those who have not spent their lives in the darkness don't realise the value of light". The Prime Minister, during the interaction said that thousands of villages have been electrified since NDA government has taken over. He added that unlike the false promises given by the previous government, the present government has walked the talk of electrifying every village. The Government not only focused on electrification, but also reformed the distribution systems across the country, Prime Minister added. These 18000 villages which were not electrified even after 70 years of independence were electrified in the last four years. The last one electrified was Leisang village of Manipur in the North east Sector on April 28, 2018. Shri Narendra Public Accounts Committee of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly headed by Shri Charles Pyngrope, MLA & Chairman, PAC alongwith other members of the Assembly called on the Lt Governor Admiral D K Joshi PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) at Raj Niwas on 19.07.2018. Various developmental processes underway, management of urban habitats, water conservation, culture, etc. of the two territories of Meghalaya and A&N Islands were discussed. Modi said that it was difficult to electrify the last 18000 villages, as most were in remote areas, hilly areas and areas with poor connectivity. He added that despite all the difficulties, a dedicated team of people worked hard to ensure that the dream of electrifying every village is achieved. About 50 trainees, presently working in various Hotels in the Isles, are undergoing this training. The training programme focuses on the housekeeping aspect of hospitality. The purpose of the training under 'Hunar Se Rozgaar' Scheme is to impart necessary skills to youth, working in different areas of hospitality operations like, house keeping, food production, front office, food & beverage services and extending services to the guests. The trainees will also get a Certificate and Stipend at the end of the Training from Ministry of Tourism. On the occasion, Shri Y Neelakantham, Assistant Director, India Tourism, Port Blair, welcomed the trainees and briefed them about the 'Hunar Se Rozgaar' India Tourism organizes skill training programme training programme. Port Blair, July 19 The Port Blair Municipal Council is committed towards transforming Port Blair into a Plastic free city in a phased manner. In a first of its kind, the PBMC has recently introduced bio- degradable bags which are made up of starch. Bio- degradable bags having been made of natural ingredients get decomposed in a week's time without posing a threat to the environment or its users. These bio- degradable bags have been tested for its adaptability in the local PBMC’s efforts in transforming Port Blair into plastic free city market and the same have been accepted by the public as a perfect substitute to plastic and non-woven cloth bags. Introduction of the bio- degradable bags into local markets witnessed repeated round of deliberations with various market associations, Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee under the Department of Science & Technology which led to one of the entrepreneurs shouldering the responsibility to procure such bio-degradable bags for distribution in the local market on usual cost. With the objective to put an end to the use of plastic and non-woven cloth bags in Port Blair city, the PBMC has urged various market associations to discourage the use of such plastic / non-woven cloth bags. They are also requested to refrain from providing any bags in the long run and instead encourage the customers to come with their own bio-degradable bags. Meanwhile, the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry has volunteered to conduct series of awareness programmes in educating the masses about the ill effects of the use of plastic as well as availability of substitute bio-degradable bags. The PBMC & ANPCC shall undertake intensive drive against the import of plastic /non-woven cloth bags in order to usher into a community devoid of plastic/ non-woven cloth bags on the eve of Independence Day, 2018. would not be limited to Rs one

lakh as the government has

increased the cap to Rs two

lakh, the Lok Sabha was

informed today.

cap of remuneration by 100

per cent as the present cap of

Rs one lakh was found to be

impractical as foreign coaches

were charging much more.

among the grassroots,

intermediate and apex level

coach.

So far, the amount was only

given to the apex coach,
