Basic TEA-Paragraph Rubric

Criteria Points1. Topic Sentence (3 pts)*doesn’t use words from the prompt *doesn’t have an opinion * is missing*doesn’t answer the prompt *is combined with evidence2. The Evidence (1 pt)*is missing * doesn’t indicate who is making the argument (ie. The speaker/author states, “…”)*isn’t introduced with a transition *isn’t punctuated correctly (ie. Using quotation marks, citing the page number)3. The analysis: It should be two sentences –one explains the quotation; the other one analyzes it (2 pts)*doesn’t explain the quotation (ie. Doesn’t give the context of the quotation—what is happening at that point of the story)*doesn’t analyze the quotation (ie. Explain how the evidence supports the topic sentence) 4.
