Learning Forums2006-2007

• What is a Learning Forum?

• Half termly meeting

• Directed time – Monday

• Opportunity for discussion and research into a variety of classroom based activities.

How will it work?

• Teaching staff to pick from a research based ‘menu’ (at beginning of term)

• Staff are therefore directing their own CPD but working together with colleagues who have similar interests

• CPD will be research based (i.e. taking place within the classroom, rewriting schemes of work, coaching)

Where does SIG fit with the Learning Forums?

• SIG meetings will occur half-termly (after the Learning Forums)

• SIG will still be a select group of interested teachers who are committed to school improvement

• The Learning Forums will be enhanced by SIG group membership. SIG members are already conversant with ideas of action based research/coaching.

What does it mean for SIG members?

• SIG members provide an essential link/contact with the Learning Forums

• You will NOT be expected to lead the Learning Forums but be a contact for myself to disseminate information

• SIG members will be able to report back how the Learning Forums are progressing and highlight any problems.
