Teachers & Librarians Theme for Preschool
Using the Weekly and Daily Planning FormsIn the weekly planning form, ALL of the boxes are editable! Simply print as they are OR move activities to the days you want them or replace activities with your own! You’ll find my standards listed under each activity. This is where you will enter YOUR program’s standards (that you added to the Conversion Chart) 1. Refer to the conversion chart you completed and look up my Standard Letter/Number.2. Replace that letter and number with YOUR program’s equivalent that you typed into
the Conversion Chart.3. Print!
The Weekly AND Daily Planning forms are both 100% editable so you can move the activities to the days you want to do them or even replace them with your own activities! (If you do that-be sure to change them on the daily planning forms as well AND replace the standards in that box with the correct standards for the activity you have replaced mine with!)NOTE: The blue areas will NOT print blue, don’t worry! Those areas are the “editable areas”. They will print with a white background when you print!
Using the Standards Conversion Chart
1. Type in each of your program’s equivalent standards next to my standard.
2. Save to your computer. 3. Refer to this chart each time you use a theme from Preschool Cubby

Our preschoolers love to imitate us and "play school" even when they are in school!Librarian as a theme? Absolutely! In a world of PDF files and E-books, we have the opportunity to introduce children to books and their home- the Library! Most of us have a library in our preschools, and now we can introduce them to our local librarians and teach what a wonderful resource our librarians are!

Flubber Instructions
On the following page, you’ll find the recipe for Flubber. You’ll also find rebus/picture, cards.
Provide the ingredients in separate bowls and place the correct rebus card (printed and laminated so you can use them again) in front of each ingredient.
Give each child their own cup to work with.
The children should work together (teaching each other) how to read the instruction cards. When they are done using it, have each child print their name on a ziplock baggie to save it for tomorrow’s “Flubber Use Day“.

Place the items in the following order on a table:• Place bottles of glue on the table. In front of the glue place a tablespoon and a card that
reads “Add 2” next to the spoon.• Place water in a bowl. In front of the bowl, place a tablespoon and one of the cards that
reads “Add 2” in front of the bowl.• Place the food coloring bottles next on the table.• Place a card that reads “Mix” next on the table.• Place a collection of craft sticks next on the table.• Place the Borax solution (see below) in a bowl. In front of the bowl, place a teaspoon and a
card that reads “Add 2”.• Place a card that reads “mix” next on the table
The children use each ingredient in order.1. They add 2 tablespoons of white glue.2. They add 2 tablespoons of water. 3. They add 1 drop of food coloring and mix.4. They use a craft stick to mix it all together.5. They add 2 teaspoons of the borax solution and mix again. The solution will clump together. If it does not, add a bit more of the Borax solution. They can then lift out the ball of flubber and knead it with their hands.*Borax solution: Stir 1 Tbsp. My Classroom & My Library Activity MatsNeeded: activity mats from this packet, playdoughThe children will create their own classroom and/or library by using playdough to add items they’d like to see in their own classroom or library!

You will need a premade name card for each of your students. If your children cannot recognize their names yet, add a small photo of them next to their names. Laminate the name cards (You can use these throughout the year at the writing table, at Circle Time, etc.!).
Directions:Print and laminate the letter and number cards on the following pages.Place the number cards in a bin or basket.Place the letter cards in a bin or a basket.Place there name cards in a bin or a basket.
The child should find their name tag and place it in the folder. Now have them search through the bin for the matching letters of their name and place them on or under their name card. The children should then count how many letters are in their name.
Have them find that number from the number basket. activity will help children to recognize their names in print, individual letters and how to count rationally.
For children not quite ready for this type of letter recognition activity:Provide many small cups. Encourage the children to sort the letters that are the same into cups. Looking at and exploring letters is a great way to develop letter recognition skills!

The following images are from the calendar pieces.
You can use these in several ways:
• Print and laminate several pages for the children to use to create patterns. Either you begin a pattern using 4-5 of these cards and encourage the children to continue the same pattern. Or, have the children create their own patterns using the cards.
• Print and laminate several pages for the children to use as a matching/memory game.
