This is how to make a sentence
An English sentence has 3 main parts:
1.The subject-NOUN (what the sentence is about)
2. The verb (what the subject is or what the subject is doing)
3. The object-NOUN (to whom or to what)
Subject or Noun
A noun is 3 things:
• A person (or people)
• A place
• A thing
A Subject or NOUN can be a place
*a city *a country
*a home
A Subject or NOUN can be a thing
Rule 1:
A and An usually go before a noun
We use “a” before a noun that begins with a consonant.
We use “an” before a noun that begins with a verb.
Rule 2: A and The
We use “a” before a noun that is not a proper name. Examples: a city (any city), a beach (any beach)
We use “the” before a noun that names a specific thing and is a proper noun.
Examples: the city I was born in, the beach where I go fishing
We don’t use either when a proper name follows.Examples: I live in Kunming City. I swim at Huntington Beach.
There are exceptions!
