As parents it is part of our job to develop the character of our children. We all want our children to

be kind, helpful people who have a thankful heart. Here are some ways you can help your child

become more thankful.

Thank You Box: Insist that your children send thank you notes when they receive a gift. You can

make this a fun task by filling a small box with many kinds of blank notes, inexpensive thank you

cards, stickers and other craft items. To help motivate your children, you can set the rule that they

must send a thank you note after opening their gift but before playing or using the gift!

Gratitude Book: Make a simple book with a few

sheets of paper folded and stapled together. Have

your child decorate the front of the book with the

title Gratitude Book. Set aside time once a week

to have your child write or draw one thing they are thankful for during

the week. As a family have each person share what they are thankful for

and why. This simple activity can help your children realize how blessed

they are and help them nurture their thankful heart.

Teach Thankfulness: Make it a point to express gratitude in the presence of your children. You might say, “I am so thankful to God for the sun shine today!” Or while you are in the checkout line at the grocery store say, “Wow! I am really grateful to our Lord that we are able to buy this delicious food.” This way, your children will begin to realize that our Lord is involved in providing everything they and their family need.

We are better together when we show our students

how we support one another. Small practices in

working with your child's school means a lot. Here

are some ways you can show your child that you

appreciate the school staff:

PLEASE call the school office when your child is absent. Ms. Diana spends about two hours of her time everyday calling

parents to ask if the child is home. Our school is required to contact a parent/guardian when I child is absent when a

parent does not call the school, to ensure that the child is home. Please take the time to call the school office so Ms. Diana

can have more time to give attention more important work.

We are noticing that there is an increase in students' Homework folders not being checked by a parent/guardian.

Old school work piles up and homework is left undone. When a parent looks at their child's school work, asks about what

the child learned, and praises the child for their effort, the child sees that education is important. Remember, your child

spent over seven hours in school working hard and needs you to notice by checking their folder AND looking at their

school work.

Finally, please take the school newsletter out of the Wednesday Folder and read it!! Often there is important announce-

ment and information about upcoming events!

Dear Parents
