TEADIT PACKING 2236 is self-lubricating, non-hardening, dimensionally stable and resistant to gases and fluids as well as heat, pressure and chemicals. Its high temperature flexible graphite and Inconel filament jacket affords mechanical stability while the advanced construction provides leakage control and high integrity in steam service.

Due to its physical properties and ability to minimize friction, TEADIT STYLE 2236 is ideal for valves and can be used within a broad range of applications.

    Mechanical Cycles vs. Leakage

Challenge: Is Teadit 2236 Certified Low-Emission Valve Packingeffective on used valves that have previously been in service?

Background: Despite the successful performance results of past API 622and ChevronTexaco tests, Teadit was recently asked to validate thefugitive emission (FE) performance of Teadit 2236 packing on a valvethat was previously in service. A Powell, 4 300# Class gate valve wasprovided by a large refining company as the test specimen. See figure 1.

Objectives: Simulate a repack of a used valve as if it were in the field.

o No Stem Replacement/No weld build up and machining Follow Teadit recommended packing installation instructions Perform FE testing according to API 622 2nd Ed. Standard

    o 1510 Mechanical Cycles at 600 psig [41 bar]o 5 Thermal Cycles 0 5000F [0-2600C]o Less than 50 ppm average
