Important Detail

Registration will begin in the gymnasium 7:30-8:15 A.M.

Welcome and opening remarks by Mr. Stephen Trimble will

begin at 8:15 A.M. in the gym.

Presenters will be given session stickers in a packet when

signing in. Please give these stickers to participants at the

end of each session and return unused stickers to the front

lobby at the end of the day.

Lunch will be provided in the school cafeteria for presenters

of the PD Academy.

Participants need to sign in and out at the table that you

signed in at in the gym.

Please make sure that you turn your sticker sheet in to your

building administrator at the end of the PD Academy.

Closing Session will be held in the gym at 3:55.

Description: Children with autism frequently exhibit behaviors that

interfere with learning and everyday life. This session will look at ways to

use Antecedent Based Interventions to effectively support children with

autism in a variety of settings. Antecedent Based Interventions are an

assortment of strategies that use environmental modifications to change

the conditions in the setting that prompt the learner with ASD to engage in

the behavior. This session will look at effective ways to us Antecedent

understanding. Participants will leave with processes and strategies for

helping students construct explanations and argue from

evidence. Participants will also be exposed to many books that will aid in

student learning and help meet KASS.

Description: Ways to effectively engage students in learning using

KAGAN Strategies. Specifically in an interactive style, participants will

have discussion on the top 5 KAGAN Structures, how to implement those

in your classroom, as well as how to group students for the best results.

Session Title: Accomplished Teaching—What Lies Under the Surface?

Audience: National Board Certification is not required to be an

accomplished teacher, but the NBCT principles are recognized world-wide

as the basis for good teaching. Learn to build your instruction on these

principles and maximize your efforts in helping your students succeed. (If

you are thinking about National Board Certification in the future, this

session will give you a great foundation.)

return unused stickers to the gym at the end of the day.
