Dear Holiday Classic Participant,

Welcome to the 19th year of one of Florida’s premier annual youth baseball and softball

tournaments. We are excited you’ll be joining us for what promises to be another fantastic

event. This tournament is a terrific opportunity for you to showcase your kids’ hard work and

talent all while enjoying some of the best competition around. We’ll have TON’S of vendors,

commemorative gear, concessions and, of course, LOT’S OF HOLIDAY CHEER!

Each year, we welcome teams from all over the state to participate in the Holiday Classic. Year

after year we have grown our tournament to where now we are forced to put a cap on the

number of teams per division. This year we anticipate 80+ teams. It is going to be an amazing

tournament for sure.

In the following pages, you will find pertinent information for you, your players, and their

families. Please take the time to read through it. If all your questions are not answered, you

can contact one of our tournament directors who will be able to further assist you by sending an

email to [email protected].

It is also important to go to our website, www.OviedoBabeRuth.com, and download your

divisions Rules and Regulations. This is very important. Our rules are built around Babe Ruth

rules, however, have a few modifications to tournament play.

Lastly, we have partnered with The Keri Anne DeMott Foundation and the Toys for Tots

Foundation to help the less fortunate kids in our community during the holiday season. We are

asking each team to please bring in 1 New Un-wrapped toy to help support our cause. The

Keri Anne DeMott Foundation will have a tent setup during our tournament to collect these

Tournament Details & Park Rules

What: 19th Annual Oviedo Babe Ruth Holiday Classic

When: November 28th, 2017 – December 3rd, 2017 (local teams may begin on November 27th, 2017)

Where: Oviedo Sports Complex – 1251 E. Broadway Street, Oviedo, FL 32765

Gate Fee: One Day Pass = $5.00 / Weekend Pass = $10.00 (12 & under are free)

*Your band must be worn at all times otherwise you may be subject to purchase another one.

Park Rules:

- Our park is a Drug Free Park!

- Our park is a TOBACCO FREE Park! The following is strictly forbidden:

o Cigarettes, Cigars, Pipes

o Chewing Tobacco of any kind

o E-Cigarettes

*Please note that if you are found using any of the products above, you will be asked to leave the park.

There are no designated smoking areas on park grounds. You must leave the park grounds if you plan to

use any of the products above.

- No Pets are permitted on the park grounds.

- Glass containers are prohibited.

- Alcoholic beverage consumption is prohibited.

- Scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, bikes, etc… are prohibited.

- Wall-ball anywhere on park grounds is prohibited.

- PARKING ON ANY GRASS AREAS (other than in overflow parking area) IS

PROHIBITED. YOU VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED AT OWNERS EXPENSE.

- Please stay out of and off Landscaped Areas!

- Parents… please do not leave young children unattended in the park or on playground!

- Vehicles locked in after hours, call 407-971-5700.

- Weapons of any kind must be locked up in your vehicle at all times unless you are law

enforcement.

- Any physical altercations and profanity of any kind will not be tolerated. You and the

team you represent will be removed from the tournament and not asked to return to any

future events. Police presence will be on park grounds at all times.

- Any questions or concerns should be directed to a City Park official, Law Enforcement or

Tournament Staff immediately.

Things to note

Action Photos will be taken by Seeking Smiles Photography. You can visit their

tent located on site during the tournament. **More details in following pages.

Tournament Bracket & Communication website will be TourneyMachine.com.

The Tournament Director will be John Laudani.

The Assistant Tournament Director will be Jim Brashear.

Baseball Check-in will be located by Main Concession (Field’s A - D1).

Softball Check-in will be located by Softball Fields (Field’s 1 - 4).

Game Schedules will be posted no later than Sunday, November 26, 2017.

Team Announcements will be made during one of your pool play games, so please be

prepared to provide the announcer with names (spelled phonetically) and any nicknames you

want mentioned prior to your first game. When announced, please have your team come out

onto the field as their name is called AND to line up on their respected foul line to prepare for

the national anthem.

Playing Field and Dugouts: Only manager, coaches, players, tournament officials and

tournament approved batboys/batgirls are allowed in the dugout and in the fenced playing area.

Under no circumstances will anyone else be allowed inside the playing field during games

except when called for by the umpire when time is called. This includes parents, team

scorekeepers, and fans. Teams will be permitted to bring coolers for drinks to the dugout for

player use during the game.

Custom Tournament Shirts will be provided by Shirt Doctors and will be

available to purchase ahead of time AND on site during the tournament for as low as $20!!

The shirts you can purchase onsite will have our official tournament logo on the front and all

participating team’s names on the back. To purchase “Team Custom” shirts with your team’s

names on the back, you must place your order using the order form located on our website.

*Note that team shirts ordered on site are not guaranteed to be turned around prior to end of

tournament and may have to be shipped to you. Also, teams registered after cutoff date may not

have their name on the onsite shirts.

We are pleased to announce that we will be using Seeking

Smiles Photography to photograph our 19th Annual Holiday

Classic Tournament. To ensure they photograph your Athlete,

they work on a “reservation system”. This allows them to

concentrate on YOUR player, and not taking tons of random

photos. This allows you to have a larger pool of photos to

choose from and ensure customer service.

To register your player, you must visit the onsite tent, OR you

may visit www.seekingsmiles.com/action-photos/sign-up. You

FAQ’s

Is there a gate fee?

Yes. There will be a One-Day pass gate fee of $5.00 and a Weekend pass gate fee $10.00

per person. 12 and under are free. Players and coaches are admitted free of charge.

We will need to check in prior to playing games?

YES!!! Please make sure you find the Tournament Check-In Table located near the main

concession stand prior to playing your first game. Birth Certificates will be required to be

with your player at all times and are subject to be checked by tournament staff at any

time during play. All players must have their online waiver signed prior to participating.

Will there be concessions?

Yes! The City of Oviedo has a full range of concession offerings from snacks to meals,

fountain and bottled drinks and fresh fruit. Please bring cash with you. They currently do

not accept credit cards, however, will be providing an ATM just in case.

Can I bring a cooler?

Yes. There are no rules against bringing in your own food and drinks. Please refrain from

setting up any cooking devices for safety reasons.

How many games will my team play?

Your team is guaranteed at least 4 games (3 pool play games and then single elimination).

Where can we stay while in town?

Please see hotel list below.

What does my registration fee cover?

Your registration fee covers the cost of field rental, balls, umpires at every game,

scorekeepers, scorebooks, and trophies and an MVP Plaque for each division for the 1st

and 2nd place teams only!

Where can I find a copy of the rules for the tournament?

You can find a copy of the rules on our website, www.OviedoBabeRuth.com.

Will there be tournament shirts available to purchase?

YES! Tournament Logo Shirts will be available to buy. See website for more details.

IS MY BAT ALLOWED TO BE USED IN THE HOLIDAY CLASSIC?

PLAYER, COACH AND SPECTATOR EXPECTATIONS:

Our goal is to help all players perform at the peak of their abilities

while enjoying the competition, camaraderie and distinction that

go along with playing in a Tournament. At the same time, you

have an obligation to everyone involved to be on your best

behavior at all times. If you have a problem that can’t be resolved

by your manager or coaches, please contact tournament officials.

Be smart and avoid trouble. There is always a certain level of

tension in competitive sports. We do not want you to lose your

competitive edge. The desire to perform at your very best makes

the game exciting for everyone. Stay under control, even if

another player or fan says something that you find offensive. Keep

your cool and do not respond to provocation in any way that could

lead to your disqualification. Remember, baseball games are won

with hits and runs, not with words.

The Tournament Director has the authority to remove any player,

manager or coach from a tournament game for actions detrimental

to the sport of Baseball and Softball. Any misbehavior or

misconduct on or off the field could disqualify a player, manager,

coach or team from the tournament. Physical contact with any

official by player, coach or spectator could disqualify this person

and/or the team from further participation.

WAIVERS MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE PRIOR TO

TOURNAMENT!

Below is a step-by-step on how to complete the tournament

waivers online. It is not an option to complete waivers at the

tournament.

Completing Waivers

With our system, while the tournament director creates the waiver, the coach is the one responsible for sending them out

to athletes/parents to complete.

Note: Make sure each athlete has an email address entered, otherwise they will not be able to receive waivers. This should

be completed under your “Roster” tab.

When you log into your coach account you'll see notifications at the top of the page showing which waivers need to be

sent out and how many of your athletes have completed them. Clicking those notifications will give you a more specific

report on waivers sent and completed.

To send out and manage a specific teams waiver(s) click the teams tab in the top right corner, click on specific team and

click the waivers button on the teams dashboard.

On this page you can see which athletes have been sent the waiver(s) and if they've completed it. To send waivers out you

can either send them individually by clicking the "envelope" button to the right of each athlete, or by sending them to

everyone by clicking the Send Waiver Requests To All Athletes button at the bottom of the page.

Once sent out each athlete will receive an email with a link to fill the waiver out. Included in this email will be a unique

verification code that will be needed to complete the waiver. Click Complete Waiver to start filling it out.

The waiver will consist of Terms and Conditions, Athlete Information (requested info may vary), Parent/Guardian

Information (requested info may vary), and Waiver Authorization (this will include the verification code from the email

and signature from the parent/guardian).
