This event includes a short opening program, a 1.5 mile walking course,

and finishes with an announcement of the total amount raised and

prizes are awarded. Strollers are welcome. The real race is to see who

can raise the most money!

The Pregnancy Resource Center’s focus is to empower women and men to face their

unplanned pregnancy without fear. Be encouraged to actively take part in this mission

as you form teams and help us raise funds.

This guide is to help you and your team members plan a successful

fundraising campaign. It includes tools and resources that can help you and

your team stay organized and motivated.

QUICK START:

HOW TO BE EFFECTIVE

STEP 1: ORGANIZE

Register yourself as a participant at friendsofprcstatesville.org/walk Join or create your team Set a Team Goal to reach Identify potential teammates and supporters

STEP 2: RECRUIT

Get the word out about Walk for Life via social media, email, texting, and calling people you know

Contact and secure as many team members as you can Ask each member to register and select your team online

STEP 1: ORGANIZE

Speak with a representative at the Pregnancy Resource Center and develop a plan which in-cludes fundraising goals. Setup up your fundraising page at: Friendsofprcstatesville.org/walk. Here are the steps: 1. Click the button that says “Register Here.” Then click “Register” 2. Fill out the registration form completely. Make sure to create your team in the team drop-down menu. 3. Complete the registration process, then personalize your fundraising page with a picture and goal. 4. Share your page with friends and family, and start recruiting walkers for your team! Ask those you know who care about the mission of the pregnancy center to be on your team. Set a goal amount for the team. If you are a veteran team leader, aim for a goal at least 20% higher than last year’s total. It takes about $1,200 to empower one mom to choose life for her child at the Pregnancy Center. Use this number as a standard to see how many moms your team can help. Identify potential team members. How many team members will you need to reach your team fundraising goal? Contact your employer or church to see if they can help you raise money, or if they have a matching-gift program. DELEGATE! Choose co-leaders and determine how you will share responsibilities, including how you will recruit more fundraisers on your team. Encourage the team to get a fundraising headstart— it’s never too soon to begin compiling lists of potential donors. Begin reaching out and raising money now!

STEP 2: RECRUIT

Recruit teammates in person, by email, social media, or blog posts. Sharing why this is a person-al cause can have a greater impact on those to whom you are contacting. Reach out personally to people you know to join your team. Walk them through registering online and give them tips on how to get donations from their friends and family. Put up a notice for your team (and the Walk event) at your children’s school, at church, or other organizations to which you belong. Ask your co-leaders and team members to help recruit more fundraisers. Help your teammates set individual fundraising goals. To be successful, make sure the total of your teammates’ individual goals adds up to at least 20% more than the team goal. Think outside the box for people that you can get to walk with or donate to you.

STEP 3: FUNDRAISE

Make your own personal donation. It is very difficult to ask someone to invest in something you are not investing in yourself. Set a goal of 20 supporters giving $60 each to help you reach a $1,200 goal. Raise money online. Send out an email to your contact list asking them to support your team. You will generally raise 3 to 4 times more money online than by cash or check. Check in with team members periodically (about once a week) to help them brainstorm their fundraising campaign. Have them list friends, neighbors, and local organization they can specifi-cally contact. Celebrate the mini-milestones with them! Contact your employer to see if they have a matching gift program, or of they will sponsor the Walk for Life. Sponsorship opportunities are in your packet.

STEP 4: WALK

Before the walk, make sure you have collected all the money from your donors in an envelope or online. Communicate this procedure to your team members as well. Bring any cash or checks in an envelope to the check-in table on Saturday, September 22, in an envelope, along with your completed Offline Donation Form found in the fundraiser packet. You may also bring cash or checks to the Pregnancy Center on Thursday, September 20th between 10 and 2. Only online donations, cash, and checks submitted prior to the start of the walk event will count towards determining prize winners. Any walker raising at least $100 will receive a Walk for Life t-shirt. Other incentives will be given at the $600, $1,200, $2,400, $3,600, and $4,800 levels. *Note: If walkers participate as a family, they must make sure to register each participant so they can each receive a t-shirt by raising at least $100/person!

Early Check-In You may also check in early! Turn in your team’s offline money and pick up t-shirts at the Preg-nancy Center between 10am and 2pm on Thursday, September 20.
