Action Plan On May 2nd we had our bi-annual International
Day Celebration. Our local television station was present and videoing all the activities, art work, and students as they traveled from “Country to Country”. (Mexico, France, China, Germany, Russia, and Japan)
The articles and links to the recordings have not been posted at this time. Channel 10 in St. Mary’s County airs continuously throughout the year and displays the activities that they attend.
We each worked with our classroom neighbors during the school year to come up with activities to work on in our classrooms and grade levels. We wanted students involved with hands on activities while learning.
Students in grades 2 and 3 worked with Sue Trainor to complete songs and perform on topics related to their learning. 2nd grade sang songs about habitats that we have around our schools. 3rd grade sang songs about recycling.
The students performed the songs for parents and the students in the school. They learned the process of creating the songs discussed rhyming and beat.
Our creations we made throughout the summer were on display and gained many inquiries about what we did and gained a lot of interest.
Students will learn and perform one dance from each culture studied.
