Cheer Festival Guidelines 2017/2018
Cheer Division Age Grid Tiny 6 years and younger & Tiny Novice Restricted 3-6 years

Pom Dance Poms must be used 80% of the routine. Important characteristics of a pom routine include synchronization and visual effect, clean and precise motions, strong pom technique, and incorporate dance technical elements such as pirouettes, leaps etc. Visual effect includes level changes, group work, formation changes, the use of different colour poms, etc.
Jazz Dance A jazz routine incorporates encompasses traditional or stylized hard-hitting, crisp and/or aggressive approach movement and can include moments of softness while complementing musicality. Emphasis is placed on body alignment, extension, control, uniformity, communication and technical skills.
Lyrical/ Contemporary A contemporary or Lyrical routine use organic, pedestrian and/or traditional modern ballet vocabulary as it complements the lyric and/or rhythmic value of the music. Emphasis is placed on control, sustained, expressive movement, body placement, contraction /release, use of breath, uniformity, communication & technical skills.
Hip Hop Dance Routines emphasise the various movement styles of hip hop dance.; this can include (but not limited to) R&B
pop, popping, locking, breaking, krumping, waaking, etc. Movements should have an emphasis on execution,
style, creativity, body isolations, rhythm, and musical interpretation. Teams may also put an additional focus on
athletic incorporations such as jumps, jump variations, combo jumps and other tricks.
Acro Dance *NEW STYLE*
Solos/Duets/Trios/Teams
Routines that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its
athletic character, its unique choreography which seamlessly blends dance & gymnastics.

Dance Level Rules All Dance & Cheer Level Rules are set by USASF/IASF, there will be no exception. Please log onto

Coaches
Cheer Festival will designate Free Coaches wristbands according to the number of participating athletes.
Coaches bands are intended for the use by coaches, team parents and any support personnel needed to
facilitate the well-being of athletes throughout the event.
Coaches bands are allocated 1 coaches band to every 10 athletes. Coaches who opt to perform as athletes are subject to the regular athlete entry fee.
Music One team representative is allowed in the sound area, please bring two copies of your music on
CD or IPOD.
Insurance Squads will be required to mail a copy of their Public Liability Insurance with your entry.
Judges
A completely impartial panel of qualified experts will judge the competition, who are experts in
dance & cheer. UK based judges will be used.
Spectator Tickets Advance tickets can be purchased with this registration pack. Any tickets remaining will go on sale 1 weeks prior to event. Please note we cannot guarantee availability on the
door of our event. PRICES: CHILDREN 5 & UNDER – FREE SPECTATORS - £15 per day
