My first realization of the French immersion I would get in Montreal.
Francophone
• French taught in schools and zealously defended by law
• Style of language distinct from anywhere else in French world
• City is technically bilingual, but preference overtly leans toward Frencho All advertisements, media, street signs, etc. are in
French
Cosmopolitan
• Hub for immigration
• Modern/effective transportation, power, etc.
• Society seems generally progressive o Educationo Healthcareo Environmental concerns
• Appreciation for the arts
Green• 97% of energy is produced hydro
electrically and there is expansion into biomass and wind energy
• Solar street lights were found commonly
• Biodome heated through groundwater
• At least two recycling bins for every trash can in the metro
Culturally Rich
• Distinctive heritage with diverse backgrounds/rootso As seen in architecture
• Citizens seem motivated to preserve the province's uniqueness (especially relating to language)
