•Points are earned primarily by refereeing games. Other ways to earn points for Beach Cup qualification include: •Recruiting New Referees (up to 3 points per new referee) – Teams will be awarded one bonus point for each new referee that attends Regional Referee training and referees one game. One additional bonus point can be earned for refereeing a second and third game, to a maximum of three points per new referee. These points are earned in addition to normal referee match points•Volunteer as Snack Bar Auxiliary (15 points) - This involves working 20 hours (5 four-hour shifts). Snack bar auxiliary is a snack bar management position that requires supervising incoming snack bar volunteers. It does not replace snack bar volunteer duty.•Field Monitor (points TBD) - This involves standing in front of AVS, Tulita and AVP to make sure no food or drink (other than water) goes onto the field.

The region encourages volunteers from U5-U8 teams to referee and as an incentive, the Region will award money to go towards the team party. The money earned is based on the points earned refereeing, per chart below:
Teams will need to submit a copy of their receipt for expenses towards the team party for reimbursement. See Referee Volunteer Points section of the Region’s website for more information: www.ayso34.org.

September 4th Regional Referee course, you will also need to complete the in person or online companion course at AYSOU as well.

Parent Player Pledge
1. Attend and participate in team parent meetings as requested.2. Be on time or early when dropping off or picking up my child for training or games.3. Ensure my child is supported and encouraged by family or loved ones at games.4. Encourage my child to have fun and keep soccer in its proper perspective.5. Define winning for my child as doing his/her very best and appreciate Development over Winning.6. Endeavor to understand the Laws (rules) of soccer and support the efforts of referees.7. Honor the game and show respect for all involved including coaches, players, opponents, spectators and referees.8. Applaud and encourage players from both teams. DO NOT yell out instructions (as this causes confusion to the players and ultimately hinders development).9. Refrain from making negative comments about the game, coaches, referees or players, especially from the sidelines.10. Encourage others to refrain from negative or abusive sideline behavior.11. As parents, keep the game in perspective for our children (as a pastime, sport, fun, exercise, personal development).12. Abide by the tenets of Kids Zone for appropriate sideline behavior and support AYSO’s philosophies for enriching children’s lives.

Player Safety Comes FirstIf a player or volunteer is injured during an AYSO sponsored activity, the coach must notify the Regional Safety Director, Michael Suarkeo
• Fill out the Incident Report Form • These forms are available on the website.
Must do it ASAP (within 24 hours) Make sure all volunteers complete volunteer
form for the current year through www.eayso.org!
Player Safety continued
• If the referee sends a player off the field because they suspect a concussion, the player is NOT to return to the field that day.
• Free training is available from the Center for Disease Control (CDC)

Policies - Casts/JewelryCasts, Splints ...
• Not allowed. • Players with casts or splints may NOT play in games even if the
cast is padded and the player has been cleared by a Doctor. Earrings, Piercings ...
• Not allowed. • Earrings, piercings, jewelry (bracelets), etc., must be removed
before the player can take the field. • Medical Alert bracelets are allowed, but must be taped.
No Heading the ball (12u and below) • Heading is not allowed for 12U and below• If ball is headed, an indirect free kick goes to opposing team
Final Notes• Make sure you sign up for the Opening Day shifts• Get your volunteers now! Identify possible refs early and ask
for help if you don’t have enough. Encourage those on the fence to get trained and try it! We support our referees with training, uniforms and mentoring.

• Game schedules will be posted after Labor Day – after that, Pictures and Snack Bar Schedule
• Practice good and timely communication with parents• We are here to help you help your team!
