TODAY’S GAME The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Belarus today in the fourth preliminary round game for both teams. • THINGS TO KNOWAll forwards but Jeremy Morin and Ben Smith have garnered a point for Team USA. The U.S. has scored 11 goals to date with eight different players in on the action ... Brock Nelson (2-2--4) and Torey Krug (1-3--4) are tied atop Team USA’s point chart and tied for 15th in the tournament heading into play today ... Justin Faulk and Torey Krug are both +6 heading into play today which is tied for second best among all players in the world championship. Brock Nelson is tied for third at +5 ... Torey Krug who has 1-3--4 through three games, is tied for second in the tournament among defensemen in points ... Justin Faulk (23:20), Seth Jones (23:13) and Torey Krug (22:30) have logged the most average ice time for Team USA through three games. Next highest is Trevor Lewis at 18:01 ... Team USA is one of six squads in the world cham-pionship not to allow a power play goal in the tournament. To date, Team USA has killed all 11 opponent power plays ... • TEAM USA COACHING STAFFTodd Richards is serving as head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team for the first time. Richards was an assistant coach for the 2014 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team and also for the 2010 U.S. Men’s National Team. Dan Bylsma and Greg Carvel are both serving as assistant coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team for the first time. Bylsma was the head coach of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team.

• NBC COVERAGETeam USA games at the 2015 IIHF Men’s World Championship. All seven preliminary round games will air live and/or same-day delay. Additionally, all Team USA preliminary round games will be streamed live online through NBC Sports Live Extra. Dennis Beyak and Shane Hnidy will call the action of Team USA’s preliminary round games from Ostrava, with Russ Thaler and Anson Carter serving as studio hosts.

• ROOKIES ... Eleven players on the 2015 U.S. Men’s National Team are playing in an IIHF world championship for the first time, including goaltender Alex Lyon; defensemen Torey Krug, John Moore and Zach Redmond; and forwards Mark Arcobello, Nick Bonino, Matt Hendricks, Anders Lee, Steve Moses, Dan Sexton, and Ben Smith.

• LEADERSHIP TEAMMatt Hendricks is the captain of the 2015 U.S. Men’s National Team. Hendricks is playing on his first U.S. national team. He is the oldest member of Team USA at 33. Hendricks has served as an alternate captain through-out his professional career, including at Edmonton the last two seasons. He was team captain of his college team, St. Cloud State University, in 2003-04. Justin Faulk and Trevor Lewis are the team’s alternate captains. Faulk was a member of the 2014 U.S. Olympic men’s ice hockey team, while Lewis played on the 2007 U.S. Men’s National Junior Team that earned a bronze medal at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Leksand and Mora, Sweden.

• JACK EICHELU.S. forward Jack Eichel won the Hobey Baker Award, significant of the top player in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey. He led the nation in points 26-45--71 playing for Boston University. Eichel, who is eligible for the NHL Entry Draft this June, is expected to be one of the top two picks in the draft. He played for the U.S. National Junior Team this past December/January in the IIHF World Junior Championship.

• BITS FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THESE GAME NOTES ... Andrew Schapiro, the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic, was at Team USA’s game against Russia on May 4 with members of his family ... The U.S. allowed just two goals in its first two games, the fewest in the opening two contests for a U.S. team since 2008 ... The U.S. is 7-4-0 in games on May 1 all-time at the world cham-pionship after its win over Finland yesterday (May 1) ... Team USA arrived in Ostrava early Wednesday evening (April 29) from Vienna where it played an exhibition game against Austria on Tuesday (April 28). The U.S. received goals from Mike Reilly, Steve Moses, Auston Matthews and Jeremy Morin in the win ... U.S. for-ward Mark Arcobello has played for four different NHL teams in 2014-15. He joins Dennis O’Brien (1977-78) and Dave McLlwain (1991-92) as the only players in NHL history to play on four different teams in one cam-paign ... The U.S. has won gold at the last three IIHF world championships played this season (U18 Women, Women, U18 Men) ... Team USA’s host is Ostrava native Andre Niec. He played hockey in the Austrian second

league this season for Kapfenberg. Niec speaks four languages fluently, including Russian, English, Czech and German ... Stan Wong is serving as an athletic trainer for a U.S. team for the 34th time. This year marks his ninth straight men’s world champion-ship. He has also served as a trainer for three Olympic teams, 13 national junior squads, eight Deutschland Cup teams and for Team USA at one Youth Olympic Games. Wong will be inducted into the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame on June 18 in San Antonio, Texas ... The last time the IIHF Men’s World Championship was played in the Czech Republic (2004), the U.S. earned a bronze medal under head coach Peter Laviolette. Team USA’s last medal came when it earned bronze in 2013 in Helsinki and Stockholm with Joe Sacco as head coach ... Two U.S. players have birthdays in the month of May. 2014 Men’s World Championship A Look Back

The 2014 U.S. Men’s National Team (4-1-0-3, W-OTW-OTL-L) finished sixth of 16 teams at the IIHF Men’s World Championship in Minsk, Belarus. Seth Jones was named by the directorate as the tournament’s best defensem-an. Jones, the youngest player on the team at 19, led all players on the squad with 2-9--11. Johnny Gaudreau was second on Team USA in points with 2-8--10, while Tyler Johnson was third (6-3--9). Tim Thomas was the goalten-der of record for all eight U.S. contests and finished with a 3.49 goals against average and .869 save percentage.

MANAGEMENT TEAM The 2015 U.S. Men’s National Team is under the direction of the U.S. Men’s National Team Advisory Group, including NHL general managers Stan Bowman (Chicago), Dean Lombardi (Los Angeles), David Poile (Nashville), and Dale Tallon (Florida). Also involved are Don Waddell, president of Gale Force Sports & Entertainment and Ray Shero. The group is led by Jim Johannson, USA Hockey’s assistant executive director for hockey operations. Bill Zito, assistant general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, is also part of the management group for the 2015 U.S. Men’s National Team. The U.S. Men’s National Team Advisory Group was formed in February of 2007.
