Team Building skills and better understanding of team work is crucial for the better functioning of the manager or the entrepreneur as well as the employee. It lends them an extra edge and effectiveness in showing performances and progress in their sphere of work. Team building success is assessed when a strong synergy of individual contributions combine in a bigger, better and more effective manner, focused towards the achievement of a single common goal. However, there are two critical factors which assist in constructing a high performance team. The first one being the diversity in skills and personalities of the team members and the proper synchronization of their strengths and weaknesses so as to balance and compliment them towards success and fulfillment of the ultimate goal. The other guiding force for team work success is diversion of all team efforts, comprising of each and every individual involved, towards one clear common goal. This in turn is synonymous to harmony and good communication level among team members. All this can be easily and smoothly managed if a good leader is chosen to head and lead the team towards their chosen destination. Some very basic, yet important, team building tips and techniques, which should be kept in mind while managing a team, have been listed hereunder. The team goals should be clearly and completely comprehended and accepted by each team member. There should be no overlapping of authority and the delegation of work should be done with complete clarity, without any scope for confusion or misunderstanding, depending on personal inclinations and individual strengths. A one-is-to-one environment of honesty and openness should be created where there should be enough scope for open discussions. Also, being loyal towards the group or team is an important instinct which should be present in each and every team member. An opportunity for open communication among co-employees should be encouraged by providing them with extra social time for interacting with each other. When it comes to decision making on important issues, which would largely depend on team consensus and commitment, the entire team should be involved and encouraged to participate. This would enhance the team’s commitment towards the decisions taken regarding the goals to be achieved. There should be no communication gap between the manager and the employees and also among co-employees. Each and every member of the team should be kept fully informed of any major or minor changes in the decisions formulated or the goals to be achieved. Remember, an effective team communication is very important to get effective and positive results. Employees should be appreciated and praised for their individual performances and positive feedback should be fairly given from time to time, or else it would not take much time for them to become biased. Page 1: Team Work And Team Building

There might be endless challenges in encouraging team work and building a team, but the pay-offs that it gives at the end of the day is surely worth those obstacles.
