Welcome to Term 3 after the winter break. We have another busy and fun-filled term upon us, beginning with the ending of our Term 1 & 2 inquiry and technology focus of Wearable Arts. The kids have worked hard on their designs in Term 2 and are excited to show their creations off.
It was wonderful to see so many parents attend our Parent-Teacher Interviews at the end of Term 2. If you have any thing you would like to follow up, or any concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

SCHOOL UNIFORM Students are expected to enter and leave school in full school uniform. This includes wearing their shoes. This also applies to students attending an inter-school sports event.
Plain black school shoes are expected to be worn with white or black ankle socks, shoes should be appropriate for school and not a “fashion” shoe.
All uniform items can be purchased from the school. A price list is available from the school office.
Please ensure all items are clearly named. If found, they are returned by the office ladies.
If a student loses a hat or another piece of uniform they need to bring in a note for a Uniform Pass which will be issued by Ms Gifford or Mrs Fowler.

There were some wonderful dioramas, slideshows, quizzes and other Homework handed in last term. We can’t wait to be surprised by more outstanding pieces and share them with the class and team at our assemblies. Please continue to encourage your child to complete their homework.
Our homework expectations are:
★ SPELLING - Each week, the student will have a new spelling list of a minimum of 10 words. These need to be practised each night.
★ MATHS – 1000+ points per week on Mathletics. Teachers will check this on Friday morning. ★ READING - Read for 20 minutes each weeknight. Students may choose from a variety of
reading material e.g. comic book, magazine, website etc. ★ HOW MUCH TO DO? All students will complete all the above plus one activity per week
selected from the grid or an assignment provided by their teacher. Year 4 students are to complete one activity per fortnight, however if they or any other Year level wishes to do more they are welcome, as long as they do their best work.
Teachers expect students to do the same quality of work at home as is expected at school. Work should follow our Book Standards. e-Learning students turn their Homework in online. Please check their Homework Guidelines if you are unsure as these may be slightly different. These have been sent home and can be found on their Wikispace.
This semester will be learning about Financial Literacy. We hope to make our students more aware of what money is and how to earn, save and spend it, developing good habits for their future. In Term 3 we will be having a ‘make and bake’ Culture Day, with stalls set up around the field.. Later in Term 4 we will be having a Market Day to sell products we have made ourselves. In keeping with the money theme, students will be designing and making their very own ‘money trap’, when working with Mr Fowler, in the Hard Materials room for Technology.
In Maths students will be solving measurement problems, including area and perimeter and learning and practising multiplication and division strategies, appropriate to their ability. level Number knowledge will be taught concurrently. Maths Week is on in Week 4, so students may be doing something a little different in their Maths classes, with challenges to solve individually and in teams. For Writing, students are learning how to describe, by writing information reports, menus, job applications etc.
