It takes many players of a variety of talents to make a successful football team, including the quarterback,

runners, blockers, kickers, coaches and many more. When the team wins a game, they have a gathering to celebrate

their accomplishments. Nobody joins the team to simply go to the celebratory dinners. They are members of the

team to provide their talents to the common goal of working toward the championship.

A rotary club is the same way. It takes many members working together to provide service to the community.

Whether that community is local, national or international, everybody does their little part to help the cause. For

the most part, all Rotarians are business people with busy schedules and busy family life and busy personal issues.

That is where the mantra “Service Above Self” comes into play. Nobody wants to join a club that is simply a din-

ner club. Supporting the community through projects is one of the main reasons we all join Rotary in the first

place. Con’t on page 2

In an effort to attract potential new members, the board of directors has approved the follow-ing.

Over the next several months on a semi-weekly basis the pictures of two club members along with there classification or job description will appear in the Ledger Dispatch.

The heading over the photos will say:

Because we believe in making a positive difference in our Community

and in our World, we are members of the Rotary Club of Jackson.

Under the photos and career information will appear the following:

Are you interested in joining us in making a difference.

We meet Tuesday’s at 6:30 PM at Teresa’s Restaurant.

For more information visit www.Rotaryclubofjackson.

Also mentioned will be whatever our current project or projects are.

The idea is possibly that the best things we have to attract possible new members would be our current members along with the good work that we do in our community. Approximately 20 members have signed off on the form authorizing the use of their photo’s and information.

The photos that we will be using will be the ones that appear on our club television and in our membership booklet. If you have already approved the use of your information but wish to use a different photo then please give the photo you wish to use to Dirk. This approach may or may not work but judging by the lack of guests at our meetings it is worth a try. Our first two members will be Pat Crew and Anne Platt. Members will be notified in advance when their photo and information will be used. Thank You to all who gave their permission to be part of this membership drive.

MEMBERSHIP CORNER

What talent can you provide to the club? There are

many different tasks that need to be accomplished

on a regular basis and when we all do our part to

help the team, the team can accomplish a lot more

and everybody can share in the sense of accomplish-

ment.

People want to join a winning team. Enthusiasm is

contagious. The more we do, the better we all feel

and the more likely other business people in our

community will want to join the club in order to be

part of a winning team.

The Future of Rotary is your hands! What can you

do to help?

Amador County Supervisor (and Past President

of our club) Patrick Crew was our speaker at our

last meeting where he brought us current on issues fac-

ing the board of supervisors. He shared a little historical

perspective to help us understand how things came to

be.
