What does SFTGFOP-1, FTGFOP, TGBOP, TGFOF & PD means?

A lot of customers have confusions regarding the terms or so called grades associated along with the teas. In general we have follwoing sizes:

1. Pekoe (P) - whole leaf2. Broken (B) - broken leaf3. Fannings (F) - smaller particles4. Dust (D) - dust particles

To describe the certain terms & to explain the liquors & aroma.

1. Special or Souchong (s) - for better quality teas or for knotty stout ball type leaf.2. Flowery or Fine - for the well made teas or finer teas.3. Golden (G) - for teas giving golden liquors.4. Orange (O) - for the orange colour liquors.5. Tippy (T) - for the tippy teas.

6. Numeral 1 - for superior teas.

Second FlushCVD 101 Jungpana Muscatel SFTGFOP-1 One of the well known tea estates of Darjeeling producing the

very best teas. Enjoy this tea with medium body and

flavourful cup.

CVD 102 Okyati FTGFOP-1 Okayti Tea Estate is located in the Mirik Valley of Darjeeling at an

altitude ranging from 1770 m. to 2360 m. This tea has a light, sweet perfumed aroma and has a very light, muscatel flavour with distinctive mellow character. This tea is best enjoyed early in the afternoon, and its heavenly smell has lingered on the palates of Darjeeling tea drinkers for years.

CVD 103 Okyati SFTGFOP Semi White Tea (Called "Wonder") This is one of the rare teas of Darjeeling with a very delicate flavour.

These are carefully rolled full big tea leaves with

white tips.

CVD 104 Goomtee FTGFOP-1 This tea garden exactly opposite the Jungpana Tea Estate has all the tea

fields facing northwards, producing flavour of rare dimension in Darjeeling. Very rich in aroma, these liquors are golden and have a

delicious mellow Darjeeling taste.

CVD 108 Sungma Muscatel SFTGFOP-1 Situated on the offshoots of the lower Singalila range, below the

Sundakphu ridge, this west facing Tea garden receives icy winds flowing from snowy Kanchenjunga peaks. These conditions only enhance the aromatic Darjeeling qualities.

CVD 109 Sungma BPS Broken Pekoe Souchong - a specialty from Darjeeling and only

produced in limited quantities.

CVD 110 Upper Fagu FTGFOP-1 A tangy and distinctive second flush with red brown infusion.

CVD 111 Margaret's Hope FTGFOP-1 The bushes of Margaret's Hope are nearly all a Chinese variety which produces a greenish leafed appearance, a light liquor and a superb fragrance.

AutumnalCVD 105 Goomtee SFTGFOP-1 A very smooth, nice aroma that is worldly in flavour, the liquor is darker

than most of the other Darjeeling teas and the leaves are coppery after being brewed.

CVD 106 Jungpana FTGFOP-1 A typical evening tea, Jungpana has a delicate flavour and smells of

lemon grass. The leaves are coppery green after being 1

produced. The liquor characteristics show a change, tasting round, mellow, mature,

sometimes with pronounced muscatel flavour and more

colour in the cup than in spring.During this period, the infused

leaf turns a bright copper / purple colour, expressing a rich

and full-bodied aroma.

"Autumnal" quality makes its presence felt during themonths of October and

November. The appearance ofthe tea takes on a light

copper/brownish tinge and liquors have a delicate yet

sparkling character. Adelightful flavour distinct from both spring and summer teas, the infused leaf has a coppery gold brightness with a sweet,

fresh 'nose'.freshly cut brewed.

CVO 109 Sewpur TGBOP black tea One of the few Bio certified Assam orthodox Tea gardens. This mark has earned an international acceptance in the English Breakfast blend.

CVOR 104 Banaspaty FTGFOP-1 black tea Another of the rare Upper Assam bio certified Orthodox Tea garden. This mark has a rare Assam flavour, which is unparalleled in the Indian Tea Industry.

CVA 101 Assam CTC BOP "A blend" In this production process the leaf is rolled into small "balls" which produce a very strong, dark cup and a very pungent flavour.

CVA 102 Satrupa TGBOP "Second Flush" This is a nice tea with a malty cup. The delicate tippy content in the leaves makes the cup very interesting.

CVA 103 Rani - BOP CTC This has a strong cup making a nice Irish breakfast tea.

CVA 104 Assam GFBOP Mahakali A top quality Assam plucked at the height of the season, contains an abundance of golden tips.

CVA 105 Assam TGFOP-1 This inexpensive and good quality tea is an absolute basic in every Assam range. The leaf size is medium whole leaf with some golden tips.

CVS 101 Temi FTGFOP From the kingdom of Sikkim, only the garden of Temi offers this tea to the World Market. This Tea is flowery, delicious and has a very mild taste. Blends were often created to give a different aroma, character and flavour to the teas. Blending also keeps prices the same throughout the year and maintains the same quality in the tea.

This Tea region is located in the South of Darjeeling. Teas are produced during the first-flush season and have a strong similarity to the first flush qualities of Darjeeling.

CVOR 101 Terrai Dagapur Green tea The Dagapur estate is renowned for its natural green teas. These teas have a distinctive leaf appearance that is known for its tips and characteristic sheen. The garden produces a unique liquor that is a yellowish-green colour with a mellow character.

CVN 102 Sri Antu SFTFGOP-1 This garden is situated at the 6000 ft. elevation above sea level on Nepal's eastern Indian border. Tea from this garden has a high tip content that produces a very light liquor.

CVN 103 Meghma Hand made Oolong This tea estate produces Oolong in a traditional method. Meghma Oolong is a semi-fermented tea, giving a pale brew with a refreshing honey, flowery flavour. 2

India's largest black tea producing region, Assam is

situated in the Brahmaputra valley and accommodates

approximately 2000 gardens. The Brahmaputra valley lies 120 miles

east of Darjeeling and borders with China, Burma and

Bangladesh. The majority of production takes place from July to September. The better varieties

have the sought after malty aroma, but also carry a slight honey fragrance. Assam is anexcellent morning tea and is

enhanced by the addition of milk.

This estate is the only tea garden located in South Sikkim state and is owned by the Government. The garden produces about 1,05,000

kgs of Orthodox tea annually and it enjoys an excellent reputation

and strong goodwill among the top quality markets

worldwide.

Nepal Teas are one of the youngest clonal varieties of the

plant. The tea is cultivated on the slopes of the Himalayas and some of the tea estates are the highest

in the world. The black tea produced gives a smooth, subtle, perfumed brew. Like Darjeeling, Nepalese Teas also have First,

Second and Autumnal Flushes. We have selected some very good

varieties of Nepal teas.

Very different kinds of black teas originate from the tea areas of China, as each growing area is located a long distance from another. These teas often have entirely different tastes. Some teas can be mild and light, sweet and aromatic or strong and earthy. One can often notice a slightly "smoky" touch.

CVC 110 Pai Mu tan This rare and elegant white tea is produced from very small buds and leaves that are plucked in early spring just before they open. Pai Mu Tan is neither rolled or fermented, only steamed and dried, creating the very wide palate and enchanting cup. Also called “White Peony”, this tea comes from the Fujian Province in China and produces a light, yellow cup that is velvety and smooth with a distinctive after hue. A special experience, this is a house favorite and is delightful as an afternoon cup, a healthy digestive or desert tea.

Japanese teas

Although tea originated in China, it was introduced to Japan in the 10th century by Zen master Eisai. Buddhist monks appreciated the properties of this beverage that enabled them to rest the mind and fight drowsiness during the long hours spent meditating. Japan produces green teas only. In the production process of tea, the leaves are either roasted, fermented or steamed.

JK001 Genmaicha - Silver A combination of banch green tea, roasted rice and popcorn. This cup has a very light liquor and savoury taste. It is produced in Sinmada, Sizuoka prefecture.

JK002 Genmaicha - Gold Our premium grade Genmaicha. A combination of bancha green tea, roasted rice and popcorn.

JK 003 Sencha Fukuju A mid grade sencha - harvested in Yame, Kyusyu prefecture. This green tea is fresh, grassy, refreshing and cooling.

JK 004 Gyokuro Also known as "precious dew" and grown in shade, this is the noblest of the Japanese teas. A very thin and needle type leaf brews into a very pleasant liquor. Brewing this tea with cooler water brings out the sweetness of the leaves.

JK 005 Houji Cha Roasted Bancha. This brown leaf brews yellowish brown liquor with toasted taste. JK 006 Bancha Bancha is a classic everyday tea. It is said to have much calcium and iron, slightly dry but pleasant tasting. Produced in Shimada, Sizuoka prefecture.

JK 007 Fuji An excellent Sencha tea with a light, fine taste. Produced in Kawane, Sizuoka prefecture.

JK 008 Matcha A powdered green tea used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony, this is great

for making green tea; Lattés.

JK 009 Japan Sencha An organic sencha produced in the heart of the mountains of the Ise region, Mie prefecture. A delicate cup. JK 010 Kokiecha Also know as crushed tea, the sencha leaves are ground and then passed through a special sieve to make into leaves.

JK 011 New Season Sencha A delicate sencha from the first plucking of the crop, it is a very anticipated tea by the Japanese, and attracts a premium price in the market.

The production of black tea in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) began

after a deadly fungus called Hemileia vastatrix

destroyed most of the coffee crop on the island. The coffee

plantation owners realized that they needed to diversify. James

Taylor, one of the fathers of Ceylon Tea, had arrived at the Loolecondera estate, for the

sowing of the first tea crops in 1867. James Taylor was already

experienced in tea cultivation and used 19 acres of land for the first planting. his knowledge had been

acquired during time spent in North India. He carried out various experiements on the

cultivation tea on the verandah of his estate. The leaves were rolled

by hand and the the oxidized leaves were fired on clay stoves

over charcoal fire.

Nilgiri FOP Nilgiri, literally means "Blue Mountain" and refers to the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu in India. This tea is a dark intensely aromatic, fragrant and flavourful tea grown in the southern portion of the Western Ghats mountains of Nilgiris, Southern India. Makes a pleasant iced tea.

In traditional ayurveda chai, spices are used for digestive disorders, throat relief and a multitude of other purposes. We offer many different chai teas for health as well as enjoyment. CVI 101 Assam tiger chai This chai is a very smooth tasting tea. Cardamom, cinnamon, fennel, peppercorn, Assam black tiger tea.

CVI 102 Spicy Chai This chai is very spicy and flavorful. Cardamom, cinnamon, fennel, star anise, peppercorn, orange peel, coriander seeds, ginger bits and Assam black tiger tea.

CVI 103 Orange & Mint Chai This is a wonderful chai with which to relax. It also makes a great ice tea. Assam black tiger tea, peppermint and orange peel.

CVI 104 Red bush chai Cardamom, cinnamon, peppercorn, citrus peel, ginger bits, star anise, cloves and rooibos.

Honeybush is a green bush that is found in the cool mountainous areas of South Africa. In the springtime the bush, which grows to a height of 2-3m, is covered in bright-yellow blossoms which produce a honey scent. The bush is harvested until late summer and unlike tea, the stalks and blossoms are used as well as the leaves. They are cut, fermented, air dried and finally sieved out.

Honeybush is caffeine-free and, due to its sweetness is well suited to a mixed drink with fruit pieces.

Green Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) Unlike standard red rooibos tea, the green variety is made by stopping the natural fermentation and oxidization process just after it is cut. The rooibos is collected from the mountain sides in small batches and taken directly to the drying facilities to stop the rapid natural fermentation. Instead of being allowed to ferment for long periods of time, which is historically employed for red rooibos, the green is withered immediately, steamed to prevent oxidation, and then rolled and dried. The resulting tea is more delicate, aromatic, and with a heartier herbal taste and lighter colour.

Scientific and institutional findings suggest that green rooibos has a higher concentration of many of the nutrients found in regular rooibos tea, including flavonoids, anti-oxidants, and minerals. Modern medical institutes and most notably Japan, have taken quick notice of the health benefits of consuming this beverage, and have published their findings on green rooibos which include the anti-viral, anti-spasmodic and anti-allergic properties found. Green rooibos is caffeine-free, rich in naturally occurring trace elements, and contains healthy amounts of iron, magnesium, potassium, fluoride, manganese, zinc, calcium, and Vitamin C. It also contains fair amounts of alpha-hydroxy acid, which is known to promote healthy skin. "Tulsi" in Sanskrit means "incomparable", and this queen of herbs is widely used in Ayurvedic treatments. It is part of the Holy basil family. No Indian home is complete until there is a Tulsi plant in the garden.

province of China, this premium organic green tea is naturally infused

Matcha is a green tea used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Unlike gyokuro,

matcha is not rolled but processed using only the soft, inner parts of the leaf. This results in a byproduct is known as tencha. The leaves are

then ground into powdered form.
