)ou see that first year of college8 Gabe had a much easier time with women than I
did. (hile I dont think he ever banged #iss #arch I know he did get in with
her circle of friends and Im certain he banged 4uite a few of them.

The Theory o$ %&'ectations
9et me ask you something
-ave you ever been around a girl who thought you were shy 5r boring 5r a
dork
:id you find yourself unconsciously acting out her e;!ectations
I know it ha!!ened to me all of the time.
I can be sort of 4uiet when I first meet someone. And if I sense that !erson has
!igeon holed me as the shy guy I find it much harder to break out other as!ects
of my !ersonality.
Its like I let their 2image of me sha!e how I act. And soon enough I become
the shy guy.
'his is the theory of e;!ectations.
To put this in simpler terms: 'he initial im!ression we make on someone*
dictates the rest of our interactions with them.
...So if the other !ersons first im!ression of you is that youre 24uiet or 2shy
youre going to find yourself acting reserved or inhibited to dis!lay your
!ersonality.
If their first im!ression of you is that youre 2friendly or 2nice youre going to
find yourself acting out the role of 2nice guy.
And if their first im!ression of you is that youre 2a flirt youre going to find
yourself acting fun and flirtatious.

A Se"$ (u"$i""ing )ro'hecy
Definition: Positive or negative expectations about people that may affect a
person's behavior toward them in a manner that he or she (unknowingly) creates
situations in which those expectations are fulfilled.
3asically if a !erson thinks we are clever or stu!id or whatever* they will treat us
that way. If we are treated as if we are clever* stu!id or whatever* we will act* and
even become* this way. 'he !erson has thus had their !ro!hecy about us fulfilled
