Dear Faculty and Staff:

As Bowling Green City Schools prepare students for college and career ready endeavors, we are aware all individuals must possess specific technology skills in order to become successful in the marketplace and in society. This booklet has been designed to make you aware of the skills our students should be learning at each level of their educational experience in the Bowling Green City Schools.

Educators realize that “basic skills” will always be necessary. We also realize we must teach the basics by integrating them with advancing technology. Our intent is for students to learn technology skills not in isolation, but by utilizing these skills to facilitate the learning of core content. With this booklet, we have designed a system we believe will effectively integrate both basic and technology skills. We believe this mode of instruction will provide our students with the skills for lifelong learning and ensure the application of technology skills into real life situations.

We extend special thanks to The Paideia School of Atlanta Georgia for allowing Bowling Green City Schools to use parts of their “Technology Skills Continuum” and for sharing their expertise with our professional staff as we competed this document.

If you have questions, suggestions or concerns about this document and the instructional emphasis it describes, please feel free to contact me or any other educational technology staff of the Bowling Green City Schools.

Sincerely,

Joe Tinius, Superintendent

Bowling Green City Schools
