What I want: ill-fitting clothes, so that it appears shes always in a costume; haunting. Costume Design: Janitor What the script tells us: he enters in bedroom slippers, carrying a mop (11). He is a janitor. What I want: muted, boring colors; reminiscent of my papa; tired and dirty. Janitor: Highlight wrinkles; volumize and gray hair (emphasize balding); highlight check bones; dull and tired eyes. Sandra: Unkempt hair and bangs to hide her forehead and her secrets; overemphasize eyeliner so it drips when she cries; give her earrings to add flare for the dramatics; add freckles and blush to remind everyone shes only 17. Technical Production really emphasized the importance of script analysis, interpretation, and group work. I think everyone in the class worked really hard in working on You Cant Take it With You and together we learned a lot about set construction and design. I also learned a lot about the importance of budgeting and recycling materials; its easy and necessary to try to save the department money. I would have liked to learn more about the process of lighting, but I learned so much about set construction that Im excited to help with the next set.
