Drawing and Auto CAD
AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) program that allows the user to
created drawings, plans, and designs electronically. AutoCAD is developed
and marketed by Autodesk Inc. it main claim to fame is that it is relatively
easy to use, it is very comprehensive in its ability to create 2D and some 3D
drawings, and it is very popular. Seventy percent of the CAD users in the
world use AutoCAD. Since 1982 it was a desktop application. Since 2010, it
is available as a mobile, web and cloud-based app and known as AutoCAD
360.
AutoCAD is helping users to produce high quality designs in less time, via
the significant improvements in precision and flexibility while working in
both 2D drawings and 3D modeling.
Getting familiar with the AutoCAD Window
Understand the use of the function keys, Command Line, status Bar
The View Cube Tool
Status Bar The command bar
Work space
.Always look at the command line at the bottom of the page
.Always be as specific as possible
Key Sequences
Draw, Erase and Select Lines
To draw a line
1- Click Home Draw bar Line. 2- Specify the start point and end point of the line segment.
3 –Continue specifying additional line segments.
Draw a Line at a Specific Angle
Click Home Draw bar Line.
Specify the start point.
Enter the left angle bracket (<) and the angle, for example <45
Enter the length of the line, for example 2.5.
Line:

Save a drawing & Opening a new file
When you open AutoCAD, there is an existing sheet called
“Drawing1.dwg”. You can work on this sheet and then save it in this way.
After the first time save, you can click this button
or use shortcut Ctrl+S to save your drawing. It
is a good habit to save your work frequently in
case the software crashes or power off.
Save a drawing & set up a new sheet
Set up a new sheet
There are two ways to set up a new sheet.
The default format is “acad.dwt”. In practice field,
you may be required to use a template.
