Technical Data Sheet - Humidur® FP

Humidur FP is a two-pack, solvent-free polyamine cured epoxy system with outstanding rust

resisting capacities. Binding agents contain modifying components, thus ensuring excellent

adhesion of the coating to the substrate as well as interadhesion between layers. Pigmentation

consists of specially developed abrasion resistant extenders and colouring pigments. High mo-

lecular weight elastifiers are added to provide for sufficient flexibility. Humidur FP combines

excellent adhesion, abrasion and impact resistance, and is at the same time hydrophobic. Hu-

midur FP’s properties enable curing of the product at low and even freezing temperatures,

even while immersed and can be exposed to water immediately after application.

Technical Data Sheet - Humidur® FP

Humidur FP is a two-component system of which component A and B are delivered predosed

in separate pails. Predosed sets are available in 1kg / 12kg / 22kg or on demand. The product

is also available in IBC-containers of 1000kg when working with plural component pumps.

A is the base component and contains:

• non-crystallisable epoxy resins,

• high-tech modifying agents and elastifiers,

• lamellar abrasion and impact resistant fillers,

• colouring pigments

B is the hardener and contains:

• polyamine hardener complex

Pg. 3/6

Composition & Packaging

Application Means Humidur FP is the variant in the Humidur product range with the strongest chemical resis-

tance and can be sprayed or brushed onto the substrate.

• Spray: Single or plural-component high-pressure airless spraying equipment.

• Brush: Used for stripe-coating of small, difficult-to-reach areas or smaller structures.

Steel surfaces should preferably be blast cleaned to a degree Sa 2½ - ISO 8501 - using grit

abrasives. The average roughness obtained by blasting should correspond at least to the seg-

ments 2 or 3 of a reference surface in accordance with ISO 8503 (grit) or be comparable to a

profile of 60µm ± 10 μm (± 2.5 mils) of the Coatest 1400 Testex Tape. When abrasive clean-

ing would be unpractical, clean up the surface by power-tooling or clean up manually to a de-

gree of St 3, in accordance with ISO 8501. All surfaces to be coated shall be dry and free of

defects, oil, grease, dust and any other foreign materials prior to applying Humidur. More de-

tails are available and are described in the Humidur Application Manual.

Technical Data Sheet - Humidur® FP

The minimum temperature of the non-mixed components is preferably between 18°C - 25°C

(between 64.4°F and 77°F), for optimal mixing. For a good application, the initial tempera-

ture of the mixed components A and B should be situated preferably between 30°C - 35°C

(between 86°F and 95°F). This is to get an ideal spraying vapour at the nozzle and a better

flow on the surface. A higher temperature will speed up the curing process.

The temperature of the surface to be painted shall be at least 3°C above the dew point.

Humidur FP is designed to be applied at low temp. and high relative humidity (<95% R.h.).

Film Thickness

Pg. 4/6

Conditioning

As Humidur contains no solvents and the adding of thinner and/or diluents is strictly forbid-

den, the wet film thickness (WFT) will be equal to the dry film thickness (DFT). The maxi-

mum layer thickness will depend on the surface temperature.

• Minimum layer thickness: 400µm 16 mils

• Minimum total thickness: 800µm 32 mils

• Maximum in one layer: 1000µm 40 mils

Humidur is almost always sprayed in a single coat! This means NO PRIMERS are necessary.

If several coats are requested, different Humidur layers can be sprayed wet-on-wet or on top of

fully cured layers after removing possible surface contamination/pollution. The overcoating

interval is unlimited over time.

Potlife The potlife of a mixture of 20kg Humidur FP at 23°C (73.4°F) is about 25 minutes.

Shelf Life 12 months in closed pails at a max. Storage temperature of 25°C (77°F) in dry rooms.

Technical Data Sheet - Humidur® FP

Humidur coatings are specifically designed for curing under water. The curing of Humidur is

a chemical reaction and is water repellent. The curing time is related to air circulation, tem-

perature and the film thickness. For a full cure, the curing times are:

@ 10°C (50°F) @ 15°C (59°F) @ 20°C (68°F) @ 25°C (77°F) @ 30°C (86°F)

3 days 2 days 24 hours 12 hours 8 hours

The Humidur FP coating is cured up to passable or walkable level after 12 hours at 25°C.

Humidur FP is a product designed to fully respect the environment. The product contains:

• No VOC (0%),

• No solvents or diluents (WFT = DFT),

• No coaltar,

• No heavy metals.

Humidur FP is capable of curing under water without leaching and will have no effect on the

fauna and flora in and out of the water.

When using Humidur FP on static marine structures, the biofilm can form itself on top of the

Humidur coating without affecting the substrate.

As Humidur is a one-layer system, the product causes less waste and minimal loss spray.

Reports are available upon request.
