NetSupport DNA Mac Agent MDM configuration and deployment www.netsupportdna.com Technical Document Pre-requisites/assumptions A MDM specific profile is installed onto the Mac device and relevant permissions granted. The Mac device is enrolled in the MDM environment. A MDM specific Client application is installed on the device. The user is familiar with the Meraki web interface/configuration. The NetSupport DNA Console and SQL Server are installed on a Windows machine. The user understands Apple Remote Desktop (ARD). The Mac DNA Agent has been downloaded from www.netsupportdna.com Apple Remote Desktop Remote installation Adding/deploying the application You need to ensure the sharing options are enabled for remote management. 1. Select System Preferences Sharing. 2. The target machines must have the following three options selected: File Sharing Remote Login Remote Management. 3. Select the DNA Mac Agent application and send to the desktop of the ARD machine. 4. Open Remote Desktop from the Launchpad. 5. Select the machines you would like to install the DNA Mac Agent onto. 6. You can search for machines using any of the options shown in the screen shot below.

1. SelectSystem Preferences–Sharing.2. Thetargetmachinesmusthavethefollowingthreeoptionsselected:

• FileSharing• RemoteLogin• RemoteManagement.

3. SelecttheDNAMacAgentapplicationandsendtothedesktopoftheARDmachine.4. OpenRemoteDesktopfromtheLaunchpad.5. SelectthemachinesyouwouldliketoinstalltheDNAMacAgentonto.6. Youcansearchformachinesusinganyoftheoptionsshowninthescreenshotbelow.

7. SelecttherequiredmachinesandclickCopy.

8. TheCopyItemspagewillappear.DragoraddtheDNAMacAgentinstallationapplicationintotheItemstocopybox.

Place items in: Ensurethisissettothe/Users/SharedfilelocationasthisisaccessibletoallusersthatlogintoaMac.Itisalsoaccessiblewhileusersareloggedoff.

If an item already exists:Selecttheapplicableoption.

Set item ownership to:ThisoptionneedstobesettoInherit from destination folder.

SelectanyotherrelevantoptionsandclickCopy.

werenoerrors.14. ThemachineswillrestartandtheDNAAgentswillhavebeensuccessfullyinstalled.

Cisco Meraki

Adding/deploying the application1. LogintoyourMerakiinterfaceandchooseSystems Manager –Apps.

2. SelectAdd an app,choosemacOS,selecttheCustom appoptionandclickNext.

3. Enterthenameoftheapplication,“NetSupportDNAAgentInstaller.app”andanyotherrequiredinformation.IntheSourcesection,addtheDNAMacAgentinstallationapplication(.DMGfile)youcopiedearlier.

4. IntheDetailssection,completeanysettingsyourequire,setthescopeofdevicesyouwanttheapplicationinstalledontoandclickSave.

5. Applicationswillautomaticallyinstallifconfiguredtodoso,buttheusercanforceinstallationagainfromtheSystemsManager–Appstabifrequired.

6. SelectPush to all in scopeorPush to missing.7. CheckthattheinstallerAgenthasbeenaddedintotheApplicationsfolder.8. GototheCommandLineandselectallmachinesyouwanttoinstalltheDNAMacAgentontoandrunthe

command(seebelow).TheserverIPaddresswillneedtobechangedtomatchyourserverIPaddress(redtext),youcanalsochangetheinstallationlocation,languageandthewebsiteitnavigatesto(bluetext).

Uninstalling in Apple Remote Desktop1. SelectthedeviceyouwouldliketouninstalltheNetSupportDNAAgentfrom.2. RunthefollowingcommandinUNIXasarootuser:

Mac OS 10.14 – custom configurationWithMacOS10.14,Applehaveintroducedextrasecurityprotectionforyourprivatedata.Usersarenowaskedtograntpermissiontoapplicationsbeforetheycanrunoraccesscertaincontentonyoursystem.

IfauserdoesnotgrantpermissiontotheNetSupportDNAMacAgent,certainfeatureswithinthesoftwarewillnotoperateasexpectedsuchasInternetMeteringorviewinganAgent.

Forsystemsadministrators,wehavecreatedacustomconfigurationwhichcanbeappliedsousersdonothavetoacceptpermissionsmultipletimesorwhenanewusersignsintoasharedmachine.ThisconfigurationcanbeassignedtodevicesenrolledinanMDMenvironment.

Onceacustomconfiguration/profilehasbeensenttothedevice,itcanbeviewedonadevicebyloggingintoauseraccount,openingSystem PreferencesandselectingProfiles.

Thecustomconfigurationfilecanbefoundat:

NetSupportDNASecurityProfile.mobileconfigfile.5. Configureanyotheroptionsonthepagewhichyourequire,e.g.Allow users to remove this profile.6. Adjustyourscopetochoosewhichdevicesreceivethecustomconfiguration.7. ClickSave.
