TECHNICAL GUIDE La Classique Jules Béland 2019 Dates : Saturday 20 and Sunday July 21, 2019 Race sites : L’Avenir and Drummondville, Que. For our 4th edition, we reached a next level as La Classique Jules Béland now consists of a 3 stage race with General Classification. So on Saturday AM the 20 th , we have a short but punchy 11 km TT stage, starting and ending on McGiveney road at the same start/finish point as the road race on Sunday. We then move to Drummondville on the afternoon for a criterium stage on a square 1,4 km circuit. 5 different starts varying from 45 to 55 min each. Winners of the GC are finally revealed on Sunday the 21 st following our Classic road race on a 24,5 km circuit and 250 m elevation gain per lap, back in L’Avenir, Que. That stage length varies from 76 to 150 km depending on categories. Enclosed are specific information including locations and schedules for each of the 3 stages along with special contests and time bonus rules. Registration closes at noon on Thursday July 18 th . REGISTER HERE Must complete a stage to be allowed to start the next one. For our 4th edition, we reached a next level as La Classique Jules Béland now consists of

CLASSIQUE JULES BÉLAND 2019 Time Trial

Saturday morning, july 20th around 8:30h to 12:30h.

Strart/finish on McGiveney rd around the corner of 7e rang, L’Avenir.

Circuit : 10,8 km on McGivevey rd east towards road 143 and back.

Équipment : Merckx style TT: Use the same type of bike as for the road and crit races;

No TT bike, No clip-on extension, no disk wheel. No restriction on clothing

other than helmet security certification.

Starting times: Starting times are at 30sec intervals with the same category order as for

the criterium. Starting times will be posted on Friday CJB 2019

TREK/BONTRAGER CONTEST : BEAT THE BEST TT TIME

At registration, predict the time needed to beat the best TT time for men and women.

Winner of the contest (2 winners) is the one who’s predicted time is faster and closest

to the fastest woman and fastest man of the day.

Each racer registered has 2 chances (one predicted time for women and one predicted time for

men). Winners will be awarded a Bontrager Specter WaveCel

Helmet (a 200$ value).

GENERAL CLASSIFICATION BONUS TIME : In order to create some unexpected

opportunities, the 4th and 6th best TT time of each category will have 10

sec bonus taken off their GC time.

BONUS PRINT

At the 10th lap of each of the 5 races, the first racer to cross the

start/finish line will receive the Cycles Regis award: a bike tune up. Also a 100$

amount will be awarded to one of the 5 intermediate sprint winners by way of a draw.

GENERAL CLASSIFICATION BONUS SECONDS:

The first 5 ranks of each category at the end of the race will have their GC time

reduced by the amount listed here : 1st=10sec, 2nd=8sec, 3rd=6sec, 4th=4sec, 5th=2sec.

ROAD RACE (SUNDAY July 21 st)

How to get there

On McGiveney road, L'Avenir (15 min south of Drummondville), exit 103 from A-55, go west on Ployart rd, turn left (south) on road 7 (7e rang) up to McGiveney rd. Address: 1480 McGiveney, L'Avenir, Que. J0C 1B0 For afternoon racers: you will have to get on the circuit for about 3 km on Ployart rd; be careful for racers already on the course.

Parking

Parking is in the hay field across the start/finish area. Use the entrance on 7e rang O. See

picture below. If this area is full, use road 7 on both side of McGiveney. Use only one

side of 7 Rang O so wide harvesting machinery can get by.

Please no parking on McGiveney nor in the private driveway at 1480 McGiveney.

Camping on site You are allowed to camp (RV or tent) on site in the field on McGiveney in the

parking area. There are no services provided except for portolets. Please make sure to leave the

place clean especially with no steel pieces like tent pins that could damage agricultural equipment.

Drinking water There will be some drinking water on site but we suggest you bring your own

since the local well from our hosts has a very limited production.

Bike wash

There will be a bike wash station with non-drinkable water in the case that there is some rain during

the road race.

24.5 km Circuit

The race circuit is the same as previous years. Start/finish is on McGiveney road on the corner of 7e

rang at the top of a 1 km climb at 4%.

The dirt road section (4e rang) of about 3.5 km is uphill and straight.

The last km on the finishing lap is open; otherwise the yellow line rule is effective.

Feed zone is at the top of the finishing climb, before 7e rang.

Support: volunteer support, wheels-in, wheels-out rules will apply. Maximum 10 sets per vehicle. Race

organizers are not responsible for unclaimed or stolen wheels.

Starts 1, 4 et 5,

There are 2 different racing distances from the same peloton. Those who continue for an extra lap

must make room for those who are sprinting for the finish line. Please see the announcer if you have

any question regarding this procedure.

There will be 2 separate lap indicators (WHITE for those who do one more lap and PINK for those who

do one less). Accordingly, there will be two bell sounds.
