DESCRIPTION
These units are completely assembled, piped, wired, chargedand tested at the factory and are shipped ready for immediateinstallation. Only the power supply wiring, the thermostat wir-ing, the condenser water piping, the condensate drain pipingand the ductwork are required to complete the installation.
Units include a one-year limited warranty on all replacementparts and a five-year limited warranty on each compressor.
APPLICATION FLEXIBILITY
These “cooling only” units can be applied with:
1. Cooling towers.
2. Well or surface water providing the temperature and theGPM of the water meet the application limitations of theunit.
3. Brackish or salt water and a secondary heat exchanger.
They can be installed:
1. Within the conditioned space as “free standing” unitswithout any ductwork. Supply air plenum and return airgrille accessories are available for these freestandingapplications.
2. In an equipment room with both supply and return airductwork
GENERAL
All models 1-5 tons ship as factory-charged packages. Hori-zontal (CH) units are designed for suspended mounting.HWC models are shipped with ‘straight-through’ evaporatorfan discharge as standard. Airflow orientation is field convert-ible to side discharge. Vertical (CU) units are designed forfree-standing floor mounting. All units are completely factorywired and pre-piped. Water supply, water outlet, and conden-sate drain connections are via female pipe thread fittings.
All models 5-25 tons ship as factory-charged unitized pack-ages. The 5-15 ton units may be field split between the evap-orator /compressor section and the upper blower section;installation is possible through standard height doorways andelevators. All packages are designed for free-standing floormounting. All models are shipped with vertical evaporator fandischarge as standard. Units are completely factory wiredand piped. Dual circuit models feature internally manifoldedcondensers.
CABINET
All cabinets are completely constructed of 18 Ga. corrosionresistant "Galvalume" coated steel. The entire unit interior (both evaporator and condensing section ) is insulated with 1/2" thick, 2 lb density insulation. Service panels are equipped
with lifting handles for ease of removal and handling. Ductflanges for return air intake and evaporator discharge are pro-vided with the unit, for field installation. Duct flange on CU240evaporator return is incorporated into the filter frame.
REFRIGERATION CIRCUITS
All models utilize "Scroll" type hermetic compressors. Com-pressors are mounted on rubber isolators to minimize vibra-tion transmission. Internal overload protection is provided.External high pressure and low pressure cutout switches areincluded in each compressor control circuit. The 5 ton unitshave a single refrigeration circuit. The 8-20 ton units featuretwo independent refrigeration circuits. Each refrigeration cir-cuit includes an adjustable thermal expansion valve (withexternal equalizer), liquid line filter drier, sight glass/moistureindicator, and service gauge ports.
The evaporator coils are constructed of internally enhancedcopper tubes mechanically bonded to rippled aluminum platefins. The evaporator coil is employed in a draw-through con-figuration, and features inter-laced circuiting. Large evapora-tor coil face area minimizes potential water blow-off.
The high-efficiency tube-in-tube condensers feature a convo-luted inner tube design for optimum performance. Standardmodels feature a copper inner tube surrounded by a steelouter tube, and carry a 400 psig working pressure rating.
INDOOR FANS
Forward curved, double inlet and double width centrifugalblowers are used for evaporator air movement. Large diame-ter wheels are employed to provide required airflow perfor-mance at minimum rpm and noise levels. Blower wheels arefabricated of galvanized steel. Blowers employ solid steelshafts, supported in permanently lubricated ball bearings. Allblowers are belt driven. Variable-pitch motor sheaves allowfor field adjustment of blower rpm.
ELECTRICAL/CONTROLS
All units are completely factory wired with all necessary con-trols. Manual reset protection is provided on evaporatorblower motors. A manual reset circuit is also provided oneach compressor control circuit in the event of high/low pres-sure cutout. A 24 volt control circuit, with oversize trans-former, is provided for field connection. Units are designed tooperate with conventional thermostat control interface.
FILTERS
All models are shipped with 2 inch thick medium-efficiencythrowaway filters factory installed. Filters are accessible fromeither front or right side on 5-15 ton models. The CVWC240filter rack is external to the cabinet (shipped loose).

1. At higher evaporator airflows and wet bulb conditions, condensate carry-over may occur. Adjust airflow downward as necessary.
2. Values include pressure drop from wet coil and clean filters.
3. Shaded areas indicate oversize motors.

(Based on 95°F Leaving Water Temperature)
NOTE: The graph shows the percentage of the normal flow rate for a 10ºF rise from 85ºF to 95ºFthat is required at lower entering water temperatures. Find where the entering water temperatureon the vertical axes intersects the curve, then read down to find the water flow rate percentage.Multiply the flow rate for 10ºF rise from 85ºF to 95ºF from the table by the percentage water flowrate from the graph. This gives the actual flow rate required at the lower entering watertemperature.
