    SUMMARY

    This positionsupports the Director and The Carol Autorino Center by providing a range of

    auditorium event and technical management services, including: coordination,

    management and implementation of event technical support, and event transitions for

    the Hoffman Auditorium schedule, including but not exclusive to University academic

    and student programs, contracted use events by off-campus community, and programs

    by professional artists; comprehensive preparation of the Hoffman Auditorium and

    Center to receive audiences; and the working inventory, management, and maintenance

    of Auditorium equipment. Day, evening and weekend hours required as determined by

    event schedule.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Works with Center Director to assess event technical support requirements, coordinate

    equipment load-ins and technical set-ups and staff, strikes, and manage event

    transitions as required by the Center event schedule.

    Plans and coordinates event technical needs (including but not exclusive to lighting,

    sound and scenery) with representatives of University groups, student performing arts

    groups, personnel from off-campus groups that use Center facilities, and technicians for

    visiting professional artists.

    As appropriate, serves as technical director or production manager for Hoffman

    Auditorium events and/or lighting and sound designer for University programs, student

    performances and programs, the annual performing arts series, performances and

    programs of off-campus contracted use clients; coordinates technical personnel

    schedule, and serves periodically as an event supervisor. Prepares accessible seating areas in auditorium in advance of events as per ADA

    statute requirements and as appropriate to anticipated audience needs; keeps all

    technical support systems for handicapped patrons in a state of readiness.

    In cooperation with Director of Campus Facilities and Director of Campus Safety and

    Risk Management, organizes and manages the storage of Carol Autorino Center

    technical equipment and support materials, and required inspections of equipment andsystems;

    In collaboration with designated IT staff, maintains a comprehensive working and IT

    registered inventory of equipment with assessment of condition and storage location

    both on and off-campus;

    Maintains inventory of consumables (lamps, spare parts, tapes, and other supplies)

    necessary for the effective operation of the arts center and auditorium, and supervises

    the replacement of arts center consumables for front of house, house, back of house,

    Reception Room, and related support areas.

    Works with performing arts faculty, Office of Student Services, organization advisors,

    and as liaison to other University departments and/or technical service vendors tocoordinate and provide support for events as needed in the Auditorium and in other

    campus locations.

    Trains and/or supervises auditorium technicians; provides outsourced technicians with

    comprehensive knowledge and training with auditorium operations and technical

    inventory as to be capable of substitute event management and support when

    necessary; trains work-study, independent study, and internship students to maintain a

    student technician pool; trains volunteers and other personnel as appropriate inperforming arts technologies to support the Autorino Center programs and events.

    Provides the Center Director with a weekly assessment of operational conditions and

    maintenance/and/or repair activity in the Center; immediately addresses any

    operational conditions that may impact events or impair the optimal usage of Center

    facilities in cooperation with appropriate University departments; prepares post-eventand operational reports upon request of the Center Director and/or administration.

    Performs other duties as assigned by the Center Director

    DECISION MAKING

    Recommends appropriate event technical support needs and level of event staff support asappropriate to arts center and auditorium client resources and budget.

    Works with Center Director, Director of Campus Facilities, Director of Campus Safety

    and Risk Management, and Director of Information Technology to identify technicalneeds of the Center, develop facilities usage policies, maintain and periodically upgrade

    Center technical equipment and systems, and articulate short term and long term

    facility development goals.

    Assesses and approves skill levels, provides operational and technical management

    training, and supervises all technical personnel using Autorino Center equipment.

    Structures personal full-time flexible hours, and work hours for assigned part-time

    staff, to adequately support events and event transitions and to provide for a

    reasonable work week schedule.

    As the arts center staff person with the most in-auditorium time and interaction with

    event production staff and participants of both on-campus and off-campus clients,

    displays and insures high standards of professional deportment, as defined and

    required by University and arts center policies.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience

    Bachelors degree in Performing Arts Technologies, Technical Direction or related field,

    or equivalent professional experience and skill.

    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication. Professional, courteousdemeanor and appearance; ability to work interact positively and professionally with

    students, faculty, staff and administration and to represent the University

    professionally to the public.

    Ability to interact effectively with arts center clients, production personnel, contracted

    technicians, vendors, and public.

    Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph and Autorino Center.

    Operational knowledge and skill with state of the art performing arts facilities and

    technologies, including but not exclusive to computer controlled lighting, sound

    systems, ticketing software, and counter-weight stage rigging, and performance

    support communications systems.

    Extensive production experience in stage lighting, sound, and scenic design for a

    variety of performing arts events, including music, theatre, and danceOther Qualifications

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.

    Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows

    environment. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as

    needed (e.g., mail merge, data base management). Familiarity with specific

    applications used by the University/Department such as Ad Astra scheduling software a

    plus.

    Flexible time management skills and ability to multi-task in supporting a heavy event

    schedule.

    Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population.

    Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving,

    diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects withminimal supervision.

    An office and in-auditorium work environment focused on event planning, implementation of

    technical set-up and support, and event transitions for a robust schedule of University, student,

    professional, and community performing arts, academic, and special programs mandating

    successful collaboration with event sponsors and management of technical support staff. Must be

    willing to work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as necessitated by programming

    at the Center.
