I. General Introduction
1. General Instruction for 750HP Truck-mounted Drilling Rig
The 750HP truck-mounted drilling rig is designed and manufactured according to the latest API
standard and main parts will be marked with API official monogram.
Model of this rig is ZJ30 drilling rig. The max drilling depth is 3,000m with 4.1/2” DP and 5x6
travelling system. It is equipped with necessary safety and protection equipments according to HSE
requirements.
ZJ30 truck-mounted drilling rig is adaptable to the areas with temperature from -20℃ to +55℃ and
humidity no more than 80% at 20℃.

1. Drilling Rig
1.1 Carrier
The carrier is used for transporting and installing engine, transmission, drawworks, mast, etc. It
mainly consist of chasiss frame, suspension system, axles, wheels, tires, steering system, cab,
transmission shaft, guardrail, mechanical jack, hydraulic jack, braking system, walkway, stairs,
illuminating system and signal system, etc.
Equipped with two (2) fuel tanks, the volume of each is 450L.

1.1.1 Frame
Including crossbeam assembly, front boarding, mud-guard, raising cylinder bracket and beam of

1.1.3 Axle
The driving type of the carrier is 14×8. The 1st and 2nd axles are steering driving axles, and the 3rd
axle is the driven axle, while the 4th and the 7th axle is air suspension driven axle, the 5th and the 6th
axles are tandem driving axles.

1.3 Transmission
Allison transmission TC680 Torque converter, consists of hydraulic component, impeller, turbine

and idler pulley, can complete transmit power. When turbine speed exceeds certain value, the
torque converter will be locked up automatically. In this case, the planetary gearbox will take in
charge of output of power.
The transmission is equipped with PTO port used for mounting PTO and main oil pump.
Gear shifting valve is hydraulic, air controlled, and gear-shifting valve on driller console can control
gear shifting.
Transmission oil is cooled through heat exchanger and cooling water tank.

1.6 Drawworks System
Designed and manufactured according to 7K specification of API standard.
Drawworks mainly consists of frame, cover, main drum & brake system, sand drum & brake system,
auxiliary brake system, etc.
The main drum is Lebus grooved drum, which ensures orderly arrangement and long service life of
drilling line.
The main brake is band brake and auxiliary brake is air-controlled water-cooling push-disc brake,
EATON WCB324. A circulating water tank is on an independent skid c/w radiator for cooling the
auxiliary brake.
The crown block saver is set to limit the movement of traveling block and avoid the collision
between traveling block and crown block.

1.6.2 Brake Cooling System
The brake cooling system consists of the following equipments: water tank, ex-proof motor,
centrifuge pump, radiator, pipe, valves, etc.
The brake rim water-cooling system and the auxiliary brake water-cooling system is the same
system together. Although they use same water tank, the circulating path is different.
The circulating water is transferred to the swivel joint in the end of main drum shaft by the centrifuge
pump, and then goes back to the cooling water tank from the other swivel joint in other end of the
main drum shaft after circulating in the brake rim.

1.7 Rotary table drive box
Through the rotary table drive box, the power come from the drawworks can be changed the
transfer direction and then transmitted to the rotary table.
Rotary table drive box mainly consists of clutch, input sprocket, input shaft, output shaft, gear,
shifting device, box body, anti-torque release device, etc.

Integral box structure. Sheaves are all cast steel parts and pass the static balance test. Sheave seat
is completed with wire line stabilizer. Hot treatment and detective check are all performed for the
crown shaft.

1.10 Mast System
Two-section telescoping mast, front-open, hydraulic cylinders for raising and telescoping, welded by
high quality structure steel, completed with guardrail on crown platform.
Mast is mainly composed of crown block, upper section, lower section, locking device, manual tong
balance device, standpipe, ladder, racking board, mast basement, mast guyline, etc. The flagpole
and lighting rod is mounted on the top of crown block.
Designed and manufactured according to 4F specification of API standard.

1.10.1 Racking Board
The racking board is used for loading DP, collar, tubing, sucker rod, etc. and also offer a platform for
tripping operation. It is connected with the hanger of upper section of the mast by the pin, and
connected with the hanging sheave of the crown block by hanging wireline.
Through the racking board hanging sheave, wireline, the racking board can be folded and unfolded

automatically when the upper section is extended and retracted.
The finger board is horizontal arrangement, and the gap can be adjusted. Moreover, it is also
equipped with guard chain to prevent the DP or collar from sliding out the fingerboard.

1.10.2 Mast Accessories

1.10.3 Mast Raising Mechanism
The raising and lowering down of the mast is achieved by two (2) double-action, multi-stage raising
cylinder.
The extension of the upper section of mast is achieved by two (2) single-action long telescoping
cylinders, and the retraction is achieved by self-weight. It is equipped with two-stage telescoping
cylinder centering device which can make it safe and steady to extend and retract the mast.
1.10.4 Standpipe
One (1) set of 4” 5,000psi standpipe is mounted on the lower section of the mast, it is mainly used
for transporting high-pressure mud. It is made of high quality alloy steel, and consists of high

strength ironed gooseneck, choke plug, union, pressure gauge, etc.
Equipped with gate valve in the lower end, c/w male 1002 union for connecting with the vibrating
hose in the both ends.

1.11 Substructure
Designed and manufactured according to 4F specification of API standard.
The drill floor is six-columns foldable structure. It composed of split rotary table base and setback
base, equipped with walkway, handrails, ladders, DP ramp, pipe rack, cat walk, escape slideway,
mud boat, mast basement, etc.
BOP trolley is installed on the down side of drill floor.

1.13 Hydraulic System
The power of the hydraulic pump comes from the PTO, which installed on the Allison transmission.
The rated working pressure of the hydraulic system is 14Mpa. The capacity of the reservoir is
1,100L.
The hydraulic system mainly supply power for mast raising cylinder, mast telescoping cylinder,
adjusting jack for chassis, power steering cylinder for chassis, hydraulic cathead, hydraulic winch,
DP power tongs, etc. It consists of hydraulic pump, control valves, hydraulic hose, reservoir, filter,
pressure regulating valve, etc.

The AC electrical system includes instrument system and lighting system of the drilling rig. The
power of the instrument system is 24V DC, come from the DC generator driven by the engine. It
supply power for the engine instrument, signal, chassis lighting system, etc.
The power of lighting system comes from external 220V Ex-proof AC power source. It supply power
for lighting system of the mast, substructure, drawworks, etc. The plugs, sockets and junction box
are explosion-proof type. The cable is installed by means of armored wire to prevent them from
damage.
The lighting system consists of fourteen (14) sets of ex-proof lightings, namely seven (7) sets for
mast, five (5) sets for substructure (four (4) sets mounted on the drilling floor, and the other one (1)
for the wellhead) and two (2) sets for carries. In addition, two (2) sets of ex-proof energy-saving
lamps are mounted on the substruture for the wellhead.

The pressurization component’s material of BOP is 25CrNiMo. Its chemical composition is
controlled in the range of API Spec 16A. The mechanical property of the pressurization components
after treatment are as following: σb≥655Mpa, σs≥517Mpa, δ5≥17%, ψ≥35%. It meets the
requirements on the normal temperature mechanical properties of which API material’s code is 75K.
This pressurization component accords with NACE MR-01-75 Standard and meets the
requirements on NACE MR-01-75 orders the working condition used in acid medium. The roughcast
of pressurization component after high-temperature diffusion annealing can reduce the segregation
of the material to improve general mechanical property of material.
The shell, side-door, ram of BOP and the coping, shell, piston, mud-guard ring of Annular BOP and
Drilling Spool is 25CrNiMo to ensure that the pressurization component contacting well-liquid in the
equipment meet the requirements on resistance to H2S.
