Name of the work: - Reconditioning of Bearings

Scope of Work: - Inspection and removal of existing Babbitt material and Re-Babbitting of the

bearings with virgin lead free tin base metal to IS 25 Grade 84.

Scope of the Contractor: -

1) Initial Inspection and assessing the condition of bearing.

2) Recording of dimensions.

3) Submission of QAP for approval with reference to relevant standards. The required final

dimensions shall be incorporated by NPCIL while approving QAP.

4) Removal of Babbitt metal in controlled temperature to avoid warping, oxidation, hot spots etc.

5) Degreasing and cleaning.

6) Preparation of backing metal surface for tinning.

7) Tinning of the prepared surface with pure tin.

8) Babbitting of the bearings and bearing pads with virgin lead free tin base white metal confirming

to IS 25 Grade 84.

9) Finish Machining of the components to required size within tolerance and surface finish as

specified in drawing and approved QAP.

10) Checking of white metal bonding with ultrasonic equipment as per ISO 4386/1-2A.

11) NDT tests like DPT on surface and joints for pinhole, inclusion, linear cracks to ISO spec

4386/3-B.

12) Intimation of readiness to QAI and NPCIL and demonstration of tests and dimensions as per

approved QAP.

13) Coating and packing of the cleared components with suitable preservative to avoid damage

during transport and storage.

14) Transportation of accepted components to MAPS site along with relevant documents.

15) The ID for the journal bearings shall be maintained as shown in drawing after re-Babbitting and

final dimensional inspection.

Scope of the Department: -

1) Transport of material to the firm.

2) Approval of QAP.

4) Arranging inspection.

5) Transit Insurance during transportation.
