BASIC (and more advanced) EAR TRAININGImagine you are at an important audition. The panel likes you. They hand you some music you’ve never seen before and ask you to sight-read it. How well will you do? In this course, students work on singing major and minor scales, intervals, and simple melodies using solfege syllables. Rhythmic patterns are also learned, along with basic conducting skills. Recommended for: singers of all varieties of music; choir members, beginning choral and orchestral conductors.
DICTATIONHave you ever heard a melody in your head and wanted to notate it? Perhaps you’ve crafted a melody and hear certain chords that go with it; which are chords are they? This course helps you hear music better by writing down a given melody played by the instructor; more advanced levels introduce chordal dictation. Recommended for: songwriters and composers or anyone who wishes to play better “by ear”
