What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Page 2: Technologies in As

Whilst constructing this product I have learnt to use many Technologies featured on a Apple Mac computer. Not only have I learnt how to use features on a apple product but What I can do on a normal computer using the wed. In this PowerPoint I will list all the different software’s and hardware’s needed to make my music magazine, and I have used them. This will include:

• Photoshop• InDesign• Cannon EOS 60D using a canon SD memory card SDC- 32M to securely save the

images • Nikon D300• Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5) • X Serve• Safari Google• Blog• Prezi • Slideshare

Photoshop Photoshop was a new and different software that I

had never used before. In Photoshop I have learnt how to create a image that will follow certain forms and conventions. I first learnt how to add an image, where all you had to do was click onto the image and drag it onto your Photoshop sheet. Once I had chosen my main Image I then learnt how to add effects, such as editing my chosen picture with the contrast of colour’s, cropping things out and using the stamp tool to take away any marks in the background or any unusual colours on the picture. The first thing I did was resize the picture and select it to be on to Photoshop ready to be adjusted;

I then adjusted the picture so it was brighter and there was a darker shadow;

I then used the stamp tool to make sure the skin colour was even. Once I had the image right I then added text that would attract my audience, this included adjusting the colour, changing the font size and style, spaces between words, and gaps between paragraphs. When it came to attracting the audience with a contrasting text colour and background, I then added a “Stroke” effect which stood out to the audience and made the text come away from the image. I could then start adding shapes, this helped in the division of stories and extras for teaser articles for the audience;

InDesign

In order for me to create the layout, the images, and the text of my Article I used InDesign. InDesign is basically a desktop publishing software application produced by Adobe Systems. It can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers and books. It makes designing work much easier as you can use different parts of it to edit it and move things in the design you want. On the right is a labelled picture of everything I used on InDesign:

Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5)Throughout making my product I used a Mac

OS X Leopard (version 10.5) It is known for its Speed, reliability. This means that my media product would be produced on a computer that my work wont have a chance of being lost or damaged. It has a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor which means it delivers fast performance and greater energy efficiency and more responsive multitasking, so it helps you work to be more productive. It combines mainstream processing speeds with power-saving features, It helps you get more done in less time. It also has a 3GB of memory.

Cannon EOS 60D using a canon SD memory card SDC- 32M

This camera allows you to take images, and Full HD Movies using the vari-angle LCD screen. It has many features including:

• 18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor • Advanced creative features • Vari-angle 7.7cm (3.0”) 3:2 ratio LCD • Full HD movies • DIGIC 4 • ISO 100-6400, H:12800 • Up to 5.3fps shooting for up to 58 JPEGs • 9-point cross type AF System • iFCL metering with 63-zone Dual-layer

Sensor for accurate pictures analysing focus & colour

I used this camera to take my main images, it allowed me to get good images at a good focus. The great thing about having the zoom so efficient is that when I took my pictures not only could I use a steady hand avoiding any blurs but I could zoom in to make the picture come out more to the audience and get more of my models facial expressions. I took the photos with a canon SD memory card SDC- 32M. This memory card is 32MB which can hold just the right amount of pictures to what I needed. I could also manipulate the white balance and use it in a professional format also manipulating the shadow on my models face.

Nikon D300This camera was used for us to take some extra pictures for my contents page. This was used in a professional format where we could manipulate the camera lighting and decide weather we wanted a shadow on our artists face. Below are the features of the camera.

• 12.3 megapixel DX format CMOS image sensor• Built-in self-cleaning sensor unit- minimises the effect of dust• 6fps continuous shooting (8fps with optional MB-D10 battery pack with lithium-ion battery EN-EL4a or 8

AA batteries)• ISO 200-3200: extendable up to ISO 6400 (equivalent) and down to ISO 100 (equivalent)• EXPEED image processing engine with 14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit image processing for superb tonal

gradation• Advanced Scene Recognition System combines the cameras metering and AF sensors for precise

exposures• Multi-CAM3500DX 51-point AF system• Quick response with approx 0.13 second power-up and 45 millisecond shutter release time lag• 920,000 dot 3-inch VGA LCD monitor with wide, 170- degree viewing angle• Live View with Autofocus lets you compose images using the LCD monitor• Durable, magnesium alloy body• Water and dust resistant

X-Serve

The Xserve can be used for a variety of applications, including file server, web server or even high-performance computing applications using clustering – a dedicated cluster Xserve, the Xserve Cluster Node, without a video card and optical drives are also available.Our Xserve is controlled by our IT services where all our work is backed up with over 256 GB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM (1.33 GHz) 512 GB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM (DP 1.33 GHz) of memory. This involves user accounts also being backed up. This is great because if the computer you were meant to be working on has a sudden break down they have a copy of your work for you to retrace.

Safari This is also known as the internet. The great thing about

using the safari is the fact that if you were to delete your post on your blog you can undo this and get it back up. This means that I can undo any unwanted changes. I used the internet mainly for research of my magazine. I looked for forms and conventions of other magazines of a R&B magazines and tried to interpret them into my magazine. I compared different R&B magazines looking at the font, layout and the way they portrayed their artists. I then used this link; http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=107 to to find text that will match my chosen genre, this includes bold text, and texts that I want to use to portray my main artist. This was used to download all the text above within the ‘Hype’ theme, where I simply had to press download where it would come onto my download list and I would just have to import. The safari was also used for word press to create new blogs.

Page 10: Technologies in As

Wordpress.comTo conclude all of my magazine I then posted it onto my Blog on word press.

Before my media lesson I was unaware that writing a blog could of been so easy. Using word press I learnt how to make a Blog, write posts on lesson notes, homework’s, class work and evaluation. By making new pages I could then section my work to make it much more easier to find. To make my posts seem more easier to follow and to show exactly what I mean I then learnt how to insert media e.g. Pictures.

Epson Expression Premium XP-610 A4 Colour Multifunction Inkjet Printer

This was used to help me upload the drawings I had drew of my magazine plan. This helped with organization of our music video as well as having a virtual and hard copy.

Prezi

This was also used to help me answer questions. Prezi is a U.S. software company, producing a cloud-based presentation software and storytelling tool for presenting ideas on a virtual canvas. This was very easy to use as you can create slides in order to evaluate your work. I used Prezi the most as it allows me to answer questions in a simple way.

Slideshare

I am currently using slideshare to answer this question about creating my media products using different technologies. This is very easy to use as all you do is use a basic windows software “PowerPoint” and import/ upload it into slide share. I then inserted it into my blog.

Audiences feedback

Iphone 5 With the 8mp of camera, I could film the audiences feedback with a High Definition view and good quality sound. This could possibly be a way to find a audiences feedback, I could re-play the voice recording or the video back to find positive's and possible improvements.

Facebook Facebook is a social media website. I used facebook to create a group message for feedback on my magazine. I had a balance of both genders to show them my magazine and ask if they liked the magazine and what they think needs to be improved.
