TopTech rack conveyor dishwashers

Colged proposes an innovative generation of tunnel dishwashers intended to represent the new reference standard of the sector in terms of advantages for the users and price performance ratio. The TopTech rack conveyor dishwashers are available in a unique 31-22 set-up level, including heat recovery device and in-line drying tunnel, characterised by very advanced technology and extremely reduced consumption, up to 0.6 lt. per basket.

A compact but perfectly articulated range such as TopTech, allows each type of user to fi nd its own ideal dishwasher, foe maximum washing effi ciency, as quickly as possible and with minimum installation and operating costs.

Effi ciency and rapidity

The TopTech rack conveyor dishwashers by Colged are developed from years of experience and know-how acquired by producing over 10,000 machines with automatic advancement, installed worldwide. They incorporate a long series of advanced systems and technologies, many of which that are patented or patent pending, which positively affect all aspects of use:

• PRODUCTION • EASY CLEANING • OPERATING COSTS • OPERATIONAL FLEXIBILITY• USER-FRIENDLINESS • SAFETY AND QUALITY

The result of design without compromise, the TopTech machines are exclusively in the full-equipment version because technologies like the adaptive multiple rinse, the high-effi ciency wash with double entry pump, the electronic speed management and the any others that provide real operational, environmental and economic benefi ts cannot be considered “optionals”. This teaches the “Useful innovation” product philosophy that characterises Colged’s more than fi fty year presence on the market.

The dishwashers are manufactured in an establishment with ISO 9001 certifi cation, with respect to the environment according toISO 14001 certifi cation. The system has CE marking and the water supply system is compliant with the WRC Standard. There are many safety systems that intervene to protect the integrity of the operator and dishwasher if:

• One of the doors is opened • The plates exiting are not removed• A drawer fi lter is extracted • If an over-voltage or over-heating of a main electrical component should occur.• The belt or drive jams • One or more heating elements operate in air

Re-armable emergency stop switches positioned in the proximity of the entrance and/or exit work positions; very low voltage user interface (24 V); set-up for installation of the isolating switch on the machine (option with surcharge).

High production

Based on the 2.7 kW DuoFlow double outlet pump, equivalent to a3.5 kW traditional pump, which feeds 60 IdroWash2 directional nozzles, positioned on 5 arms measuring only 50 cm. With this concentration of mechanical washing power, the tableware undergoes a sort of “hydraulic brushing”, which removes the dirt effi ciently. The nozzles have positive impression which makes the jet very narrow and stable. The energy of the water is very concentrated when it strikes the dirt and the mechanical washing action is maximum. The many, closely positioned nozzles, ensure perfect coverage. Very hot water is used: 60 °C in the standard programs and 63 °C in the intensive programs; the constant temperature is ensured by an armoured heater in the tank.

It is a very heavy module with length of 1150 mm, with a complete IdroWash2 system with 5 arms. Most of the dirt is removed here and the most consistent fraction is collected by a drawer fi lter, which can then be emptied in just a few seconds without opening the door. A second separation takes place in the ProStrainer surface fi lter, which is shaped in a way to convey the dirt into a removable basket. A third fi lter is found on pump suction. In the pre-wash phase it is crucial that the temperature of the water remains constant; not too hot to prevent the residues of starch or cheese from drying on the tableware and not too cold to prevent the effectiveness of the detergent from decreasing. For this reason an active thermostatic adjuster is present, which uses a separate cold water entrance and a 10.500 W heating element to maintain the temperature of the bath at the desired value (default 55°).

It uses air at 70 °C, withdrawn from the outside and heated by a 6 kWheat exchanger (optional 9 kW). A 550 W radial turbo fan sends a fl ow of 1.400 m3/hour to two upper outlets; a shaped conveyor sends the air upwards again. Drying is optimised for plates but also for the glasses and concave objects that must receive air from below. The air blades also have the effect of maintaining the steam inside; there is a dripping area between rinsing and drying. The use of dry air at a relatively low temperature allows to treat even the most delicate glasses or plastic materials safely, which would risk melting if dried in a conventional dryer. The neutral dripping area between rinsing and drying allows the larger drops to fall naturally due to gravity before reaching the real drying area, where a relatively dry environment is maintained.

Water consumption adapts to production and the type of object to be washed: to rinse plates the water must be from above, for glasses and containers the water must originate from below. If normal rinsing is used with identical upper and lower fl ow rate, it is evident that part of the water used is completely useless. The extraordinary capacity of the TopRinse of differentiating the fl ow rate between the upper and lower arms, allows to eliminate this useless waste without affecting performance. The electric power absorbed varies with production, the type of objects to wash and the power supply conditions. The result is that the machine operating cost is, moment by moment, that strictly necessary to obtain the washing results and maintain hygiene. The operation of the different areas of the machine fi nally adapt to the way in which the tableware is loaded.

It integrates different technologies to increase the effi ciency of the use of water and reduce consumption of the same, also adapting it to conditions of use. It is supplied through a system with break tank in compliance with the WRC Standards; rinse pump with DuoFlow technology with double outlet. Heating takes place via two independent boilers, each with two Incoloy 800 alloy heating elements. Each boiler feeds a fi nal rinse arm through the ProPortionalplus fl ow change device. The fi nal rinse water is recovered and re-used several times by the UltraRinse3 system. The use of a double boiler allows to obtain higher energy effi ciency with respect to the more economic single boiler circuit, lower thermal inertia and improved isolation; this is obtained thanks to a special synthetic material covering with microscopic closed cell structure.

Allows to change the water fl ow rate distributed through a rinse arm in a way to optimise consumption according to the advancement speed and the type of object to be washed. There are two positive effects:

Less water used: depending on the program used, up to 26%.

Optimisation: the rinse is distributed according to the type of object to be washed and avoiding waste, thus guaranteeing the best result. For example, the glasses receive more water from below than above and plates more water from above than below.

An adaptive product TopRinse ProPortional Flow Change Device plus

Lower operating cost Colged dishwashers have very high washing effi ciency and use technologies, many of which are patented and which reduce minimum consumption to 0.6 lt of water per basket, with respect to the average of dishwasher tunnels present on the market. This means a reduction in consumption of around 60%. Reducing water consumption means also reducing the consumption of electricity and chemical products. Other technologies and equipment act on all factors that generate operating costs. Environmental impact is also largely reduced: less electricity means less introduction of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, less chemical products mean the drain water purifi cation plants have to work less, less heat and less steam emitted from the dishwasher mean a lower load on the kitchen air conditioning system and a better work environment.

6

It re-uses the fi nal rinse water several times to carry out an intermediate double rinse and preliminary rinse at the end of the wash area. The preliminary rinse removes most of the detergent present on the tableware, keeping it in the wash tank. The double intermediate rinse completes removal and the fi nal rinse distributes rinse aid onto the thoroughly clean tableware and promotes drying. This multiple and differentiated use reduces specifi c water consumption to very low values, with a saving of 36% with respect to the already excellent previous generation Colged machines and by over 60% with respect to the average of competitor products.

Manufactured in ProComposit composite material (matrix in resin with an isotropic load of glass fi bre and micro-granules of talc); they are injection moulded and welded with vibration technology. Complex ducting is obtained, which promotes the fl ow of fl uid, thus reducing pressure drops. There are a different number and type of stainless steel spray nozzles, obtained from precision mechanical machining, depending on the type of rinse. The composite arms are lighter, safe to handle, easy to clean and with longer duration over time with respect to the traditional steel arms.

UltraRinse3

Multiple Rinse HiTech Rinse Arms It reduces the consumption of detergent from 20 to 60% depending on the program used. Not all of the rinse water reaches the wash tank, where detergent must be added, but just a fi xed 100 lt/hour. The excess is introduced into the pre-wash, diluting the dirt in the most critical area of the entire dishwasher. The dishwashers are usually supplied without detergent and rinse aid dispensers; electronically-controlled peristaltic pumps are available as optionals, with assembly inside the machine and direct adjustment from the control panel.

ProChemDetergent Management

7

Normally, the steam moves from the pre-wash towards the exit, practically from the cold areas to the hot areas, cooling the route of the tableware and walls. ProHeat generates an overpressure in the drying area and a negative pressure at the start of the pre-wash area; the steam and the heat it transports, move in this way from the hot to the cold areas, heating the route of the tableware and the walls. At the end, the steam is conveyed into the recovery device. A further advantage is that the operators in the dishwasher entrance and exit area work in a healthier and with less relative humidity.

ProSteam Steam FlowManagement

The latent heat of the steam is used to heat the water before it enters the boiler, with an energy saving which can reach up to 8 kW. It uses a centrifugal extractor that forces the steam through two copper heat exchangers with aluminium fi ns; total exchange surface 26 m2, each of which supplies an individual boiler in parallel. The system starts automatically when the temperature of the supply water drops below32 °C. As well as the energy saving advantage, the humidity introduced into the environment is greatly reduced, allowing the use of smaller external extractor systems. The heat recovery device stops automatically over 32 °C as condensation no longer takes place effi ciently and the effect of recovery is practically annulled. Whenever water fi ltered through a reverse osmosis device is used, which irreparably corrodes some metals, among which copper, the copper/aluminium heat exchangers must be replaced by others in stainless steel, available on request with a surcharge.

ProHeat Heat Recovery DeviceThe machines are designed to be fed with cold water, with the possibility of converting them to hot water feed directly from the control panel. On request they can be manufactured with optimised functioning for operation with hot water and the possibility of conversion to cold water feed via software.

It activates the different modules only if they contain the tableware to be treated. A system detects the position of the baskets inside the dishwasher and transmits the information to the control circuit board that activates or deactivates the areas of interest. It is an evolution of the traditional Thermostops and Rinse Economizers, which allow a great energy saving in the case of intermittent work. Moreover, the system manages the sequential start-up of the different areas after stopping, in a way to prevent dangerous voltage peaks that could damage the electric plant.

User-friendliness

The new TopTech rack conveyor dishwashers have an actual aperture of 46 cm, which allows easy loading using specifi c baskets, oven trays, Gastronorm trays, heat-insulated trays for distribution of food, plates also with large diameter, tall and valuable glasses, pans and various utensils.

Large actual aperture

9

It uses a 6’’ touch screen and two capacitive buttons, one with changing colour for immediate understanding of the appliance status. The interface allows to select a wash program from the many available and to display the status of each individual area, from the entry of the water to drying. Advanced self-diagnosis that includes a log of the alarms intervened and a troubleshooting function to identify possible solutions to problems encountered. The information is provided via icons and text messages in one of the pre-set languages. Display of daily and total operating hours. A series of menus with protected access allow the technicians to adjust each individual operational parameter, from the language to the advancement speed of the tableware, from the wash and rinse temperatures to the combination of pumps and arms to be activated. The connectivity is assured by an optional plug-in module that allows to access all functions through a PC connected via Bluetooth, WiFi or USB cable.

The dishwashers are fi tted with a series of specifi c programs for the different conditions of use. The programs differ regarding temperature and power of the wash, the contact time, the temperature, fl ow rate and rinse distribution. Therefore, differently from most competitor products, limits are not given to just going “quicker” or “slower” but the percentage breakdown of the elements that contribute to washing are really changed, optimising the process in a way to wash greater quantities of tableware more effectively in a shorter period of time.

600 V advancement motor, conversion of movement via eccentric or oscillating slide. Basket guide with double lateral track to leave the central area of the basket completely free for the passage of the water; very thick stainless steel oscillating fi ngers. The oscillating slide moves on anti-friction plastic rolling material. Useful dimensions of the basket passage mouth: 600 x 430 mm. Anti-slip safety with oscillating arm and without friction disks in order to prevent any damage to the conveyor system in the event of accidental blockage of the basket. Set-up for connection with end run stop microswitch.

Basket conveyor Speed adjustment The advancement speed of the tableware, both on the belt and in basket, can be adjusted to any value between 0.6 and 2.6 m/min. (between 60 and 300 baskets/hour) thanks to a frequency controlled electronic inverter. In the case of breakdown, the inverter can be disconnected (the machine operates temporarily at just one speed).

Optimised for cold water between 16 and 40 °C. It is possible to select the supply method of the hot water between 40 and 60 °C with power absorbed reduced by approx. 10% directly from the control panel. If the temperature of the supply water drops, (if possible) the machine positions itself on a slower advancement speed with lower consumption in order to guarantee hygiene without stopping operation. Below 32 °C the heat recovery device starts to work (ProSafe System).

Operational fl exibility

11

The dishwashers are available with and without pre-wash and with one or two wash tanks. They all have drying and heat recovery as standard. Versions can also be provided with corner pre-wash and drying for better adaptation to the conformation of the wash area, while the other elements available on request with surcharge complete the possibility of adapting the dishwasher to the user’s needs.

The modules are joined by an innovative system that makes the dividing and re-assembly operations very fast. The electric and hydraulic plants are also developed to greatly simplify these operations. In this way, no entrance is so narrow to not allow installation of a TopTech dishwasher. A particular joint strengthening and centring system (patent pending) is used in the connection, which means silicone or other sealants do not have to be used.

Simplifi ed assembly Modular construction

Easy to clean

All modules have fully opening counter-balanced doors that allow easy access to any point of the washing chamber. This is also valid for the integrated wash and dry module with unique surface; exclusive to Colged.

The electric and hydraulic components are accessed for maintenance by removing the front panelling, thus obtaining a completely free surface also in this case.

AccessibilityFully-moulded self-cleaning wash tank, wash chamber without internal piping, doors with insulated and counter-balanced double walls that are very light to lift. Easy to remove and replace wash and rinse arms, module separation curtains in plastic for use with foodstuffs which can be removed without the aid of tools. Construction with full double wall to reduce environment noise pollution to less than 70 db.

Construction

They are made in ProComposit composite material (matrix in resin with an isotropic load of glass fi bre and micro-granules of talc). With respect to traditional components in steel, these very modern parts are much lighter, elastic and safe to handle because they do not have sharp edges and do not heat up. If they are cleaned by beating, they do not deform and do not become undulated, maintaining their fi ltering capacity unchanged over time. The pump suction fi lter is also made in the same material, fi tted with a practical handle and lateral tracks for easy manoeuvres. The fi lter is made up from a fl at surface that tilts towards the outside, thus to facilitate the running of solid waste collected and from a basket into which the waste fl ows; positioned in a way that it can be easily accessed by the operator and emptied in just a few seconds.

The pre-wash module and the washing module have a drawer pre-fi lter that collects the excess dirt eliminated by the “hydraulic brush”, before it reaches the wash tank. The fi lter can be extracted without opening the door and can be emptied in just a few seconds. Its construction prevents dirty water dripping onto the fl oor during extraction.

The organic waste does not end up in the drain but can be collected and re-cycled. In the machines with pre-wash, the second pre-fi lter with dense mesh network progressively fi lters the dirt, ProGressive, system and keeps the water in the wash tank extremely clean, with obvious advantages when washing glasses and particular tableware.
