Blogger

I used this to

present my weekly reflections and my

preliminary research and ideas.

It allowed me to show all of my investigative research

with easy access to people who’re interested.

Very, it’s easy and efficient and lets me upload all my work with links to other relative information like

posts,videos and documents

Blogger enjoys not

hyperlinking my work and putting in key details.

Blogger also really enjoys saving work as a draft and

not as a post.

YouTube

Putting my videos of

my presentations, research and the

final music video on the internet for

viewing.

It allowed me to put my videos onto other sites like “Blogger” and gave me the

option to add important texts to the videos that I may have forgotten and also let a HUGE audience

view my work.

It did exactly as it said on the tin and had more

features available than I last remembered.

Often cancelled uploads of small video files.

Google

Getting information

and accessing websites fast.

It’s the most efficient search engine in my

opinion.

It allowed me to receive all the data I required fast and

easy.

Plenty of unneeded

information was also found.

Page 2: technology evaluation

Scribd

Used to present my Microsoft word documents and

some power point work.

I used this to present my power point presentations

and Microsoft document on my blog.

It put my documents on my blog with ease and was

almost always accessible when viewing my blog.

It presents work with the

table layouts incorrect and not layed out correctly. It also decided several times to not upload files. It was a

hassle to work with.

Issuu

Used to present my

Microsoft word documents some

power point work.

I used this to present my

power point presentations and Microsoft documents

on my blog.

Faster than Scribd and 100 times more reliable.

NONE! Emails can be a little

much but that’s easily resolved.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Used for making

pitches and displaying

information.

It’s an easy programme for creating presentations that are shown in large group.s

It’s quick and easy to use and doesn’t require an

extensive knowledge to use well.

Closing unexpectedly.

Microsoft word

Used for my technology

evaluation and to spellcheck and plan out my blog posts.

It’s an easy programme to

open and write a rough blog post in which spell checks

your work as you go along.

It’s an easy to use

programme that does most of the work with ease and

isn’t time consuming.

Doesn’t work too well with Issuu. Much prefers Scribd.

Page 3: technology evaluation

Photoshop

Used to create the digipak and magazine advert

It was the best programme for editing and changing a

still photograph

Allowed us to manipulate

our images in ways we didn’t think possible and

make our work look professional.

Difficult to understand on

first few turns.

Fireworks

Used to create the

digipak and magazine advert.

To manipulate our

magazine ad & digipak images.

It offers functions to

manipulate photographs so they look more

professional.

It’s not as good as

photoshop. It’s limited on what you can do while

photoshop felt endless. This also crashed pretty often.

Unsigned.com

Used to research unsigned artists.

To find an artist to do a

video for.

It has a huge variety of unsigned artists at its

disposal.

None of the artists really

grabbed my attention and it’s time consuming going

through all the artists even after narrowing your search

down.

Hotmail

Emailing important documents to my

partner.

Allowed me to send information to my partner and communicate with her

easily and doesn’t cost money like a text or letter

would.

Allowed me to email large files like music or sound effects to my partner.

Doesn’t send huge media files like full length songs.

Production

Technology Used

Used for

Why

Successful

Unsuccessful Mini DV camcorder

This was used to film the entire music video.

To film the music video.

It’s a durable and light

weight camera that offers good quality and has a

variety of essential functions for what my

video required.

Battery life feels limited when doing a fulls day

worth of filming but that’s nitpicking. Picture quality is the cameras main problem.

iPhone 4s

Taking pictures for the magazine and

digipak

To take photos for the

magazine ad and digipak while on the move.

It captures HD

photographs and allows the holder to email photos

to themselves directly after capturing the image. It’s small and light weight and doesn’t weigh much

to carry around.

The camera is good, but it is not the same as using a 15

megapixel camera.

Tripod

Filming the music

video.

Gave smooth pans and tilts and kept the camera steady.

It really helps the shots

feel more professional as they’re steady and it

helped the tilts and pans from feeling sloppy.

Damaged tripods meant the

balance ball was broken and in turn meant some

shots aren’t steady or framed correctly.

Page 5: technology evaluation

BalckBerry Phone

Used to take photos when filming.

Take behind the scenes photos and videos.

Always at our disposal to take behind the scenes

photos.

Poor,poor picture quality.

Imac

Uploading music video footage.

Empty our tapes of footage so we could continue. Used in post-production to edit on and in pre-production to do research with.

It allowed us to store lots of our footage on and has an easy to understand interface that makes navigating simple.

Crashes easily and can

freeze for up to 15 minutes.

Final cut

pro

Used to edit the

music video.

I was familiar with the

programme before and wanted to better myself at it and it also offers LOTS more

techniques to experiment with when editing then

Imovie does.

It allows editing to be done much closer to

seconds than Imovie and has many more functions

and techniques at your disposal.

Often forgot the simple

things like importing footage as you go along

learning the other features which can be frustrating.

Dafont

digipak and

magazine advert

To have a font to represent

the brand of “Robert Staines.”

Huge selection of fonts to choose from for ANY type

of media product.

It leaves the white spaces in

font when downloaded.

Unsuccessful

Photo Booth

Film our evaluation.

It was easy to use for filming

when editing at the same time in Imovie.

Really nice picture quality and had no major faults.

Encountered no problems.

Imovie

Editing evaluation

together.

It’s not as time consuming as Final Cut and bonds well with

Photo Booth.

It was very easy and fast

to import and export footage.

Lacks some useful functions

when editing and the navigation box that holds

footage gets cluttered and disorganised very easily.
