History
1815: Founded as „k. k. polytechnisches Institut" (being the first University of Technology in todays German-speaking geographical area)
1865: First reform(restructuring, implementation of faculties,
concentration on technical disciplines)
1872: Renamed to "k.k. Technische Hochschule" (TH) (new organisational statute, lasts until 1945)

1902: First doctorates awarded(promotion right awarded in 1901)
1919: Admission for women
1975: Renamed to "Technische Universität" (TU)

According to the Bologna Agreement all offered studies (except
teacher training programmes) have been offered as bachelor
and master programmes since October 1st, 2006.
