Virtual Manipulatives can be used to help students understand mathematic concepts. The students are engaged when manipulating these objects on the SmartBoard, or other interactive white board.

Numbers and Operations

O The Virtual Manipulatives are a great way to promote higher level thinking and engaged learning with numbers and operations.

O Mega Math is a computer software that allows students to “play” while learning. There are many areas to Mega Math. Numberopolis is where you can find activities for Numbers and Operations.

GeometryO Mega Math has a great program

called “Shapes Ahoy” in which the students can learn about different shapes, plane and solid shapes. This activity id highly engaging and interactive for early learners.

O The book mentions “Geometer’s Sketchpad”. This software is more engaging in higher grades, Mega Math is more age appropriate to First Graders.

MeasurementO IXL website- this website has several

activities across all grade levels. Here are some great activities for Measurement.

O Measurement in First Grade is also telling time! ICT is another website that hosts games and other engaging activities for students. Here are their time activities.

Data AnalysisO Country Countdown- this is another

Mega Math activity that allows students to look at and interpret graphs.

O Engaging activities can also be found online. This website has graphing activities that the teacher can put on the SmartBoard and the students can create, manipulate, and interpret graphs.

O ELL students and students with special needs usually have difficulty with calculations below are a few tools to help!
