– Your Regent email address (e.g., [email protected])– Your Student ID (usually starts with the letter B followed by 8

digits)

Two IDs? What’s the Difference?

Your Student ID is how we identify you (in lieu of using your social security number)

Your MyRegent ID is how you access the computer system through the MyRegent Portal:

• Regent Email – The primary way in which Regent communicates

• Blackboard – Your courses• Genisys – Your account information, pay tuition,

unofficial transcripts (from Regent only)

General IT Info

University courses are delivered entirely or in part through computer-mediated learning; therefore, it is imperative that students have access to computer systems that meet the minimum requirements outlined at http://www.regent.edu/it/standards.html

Regent University does not teach or train students in basic computer use outside of specific undergraduate courses. Technical questions concerning personal hardware, software, or telecommunication support should be directed to appropriate vendor(s).

There are 4 computer labs on campus for student use. Although labs are open when the University is open, labs can be reserved and unavailable at times.

Wireless Internet access is available in all buildings.

staff communicate with you• Important messages from your professors,

Degree-seeking vs

Non-degree seeking

Page 11: Technology MyRegent ID Access Regent’s computer resources, such as your Regent email, course, and account information with one login through the MyRegent

Early College = Non-degree

What does this mean?Since you are designated primarily as a high school or home school student, you will be a non-degree seeking student while enrolled in the Early College program. The primary purpose of this program is to help high school and home school students complete their respective diplomas, not to get a college degree.

What’s different?• You receive a discounted tuition rate• You do not have a “catalog year” – that is, starting in a particular

year does not hold your place in that catalog• You will not earn a degree from Regent while still enrolled in

your school• Some student programs are not available to you

Page 12: Technology MyRegent ID Access Regent’s computer resources, such as your Regent email, course, and account information with one login through the MyRegent

Early College = Non-degree

Of course, however, you still must…• Complete all requirements found in the course’s syllabus (i.e., courses

are taught at a college level and typically require more work)• Adhere to the conduct code (e.g., academic integrity, Christ-like

behavior)• Abide by university policies (e.g., attendance and participation, etc.).• Follow university procedures • Submit payments and required paper work by their deadlines

In the end…• You can expect a challenging and rewarding learning experience• Courses completed at Regent will appear on a non-degree student

transcript• All course grades will be reflected, including grades of “W” “WF,” and

“I.”

FERPA

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974

Parental Access (page 53 of The Regent Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2013)

The definition of “Student” under FERPA refers to a person who either has reached the age of 18 or who is attending an institution of post-secondary education. At the post-secondary level, parents have no inherent rights to inspect student records; this right is limited solely to the student. It is the University’s policy to release academic or financial information to parents and/or guardians of students (whether or not the student has reached the age of 18) only upon the student’s written authorization. The student may complete a “Student Information Release” (FERPA Waiver), available in the Registrar’s Office or online at http://www.regent.edu/admin/registrar/studentforms.cfm, to grant this authorization.
