forefront of providing training in the use of TIS jointing & terminating products.
Training can be provided at our training centre or at the client’s premises.
The training starts with a theory session and then delegates proceed to practical.

competent.

COURSE OUTLINE
The course is designed to prepare students with entry level knowledge and manipulative skills
for employment in the electrical industry. Electrical Fundamentals Basic Electricity teaches students everything they need to know about how electricity behaves.
Starting from the basic scientific principles, it covers the following topics and related skills:
· Explain Principles and fundamental concepts of electricity
· Explain Magnetic Theory.
· Know definitions, types, properties and applications of conductors, insulators and semi -conductors
· Explain the basic fundamentals of power generation and distribution.
· Apply and Explain electrical units and symbols.
· Explain Concepts, theories and principles of Electrical Circuits
· Draw and interpret series, parallel and series parallel DC resistive circuits and calculate variables.
· Perform calculations on basic electrical circuits (resistance, voltage and current) and power

2. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (OHS) Occupational health and safety officers are responsible for putting health and safety systems in
place in a work environment. This programme is suitable for those who would like to take on
the role of occupational health and safety in the work place and learn how to create a proper healthy and safe environment for workers and prevent serious injuries in the work place. The
course is theoretical and covers the following:
· Legislation and Regulations for workplace safety within electricity
· Occu pation Health and Safety Legislation
· Safety Precautions and safe practices for working within industry
· Personal Protective Equipment
· Safety symbols and colour coding
· Fundamentals of isolating and locking out equipment and circuits

3. TESTING INSTRUMENTS-THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL
The Electrical testing instruments course covers the principles on which electrical test instruments
operate. Basic instruments covered in this course include insulation resistance tester (ohmmeter)
and multimeter, tong tester, voltage tester(duspol):
· Demonstrate knowledge of test instruments.
· Set up electronic instruments.
· Demonstrate knowledge of measuring techniques.
· Interpret the results of the readings.

4. MV XLPE & PILC CABLES INSTALL, JOINT AND
TERMINATE
The Cable Jointing and Termination Course is both theoretical and practical . The course will concentrate on the technical data as well as practical aspects of installing, jointing and terminating medium voltage cables. This Cable Jointing and Termination Course will cover the fundamental aspects involved in the correct execution of a termination or joint. Topics such as cable construction, cross-linking, stress control and practical ways in removing semiconductors, Installing, jointing and terminating cables will be brought home and provide you with the applied competence according to the following unit standards:
· Unit standard 259187 Install and Terminate Medium Voltage Cables (NQF Level 4) · Unit standard 259189 Joint Medium Voltage Cables (NQF Level 4)
All work is carried out according to Occupational Health and Safety Act. Training is based on requirements of SANS 10198 and material used meets requirements of NRS 053 / SANS 1332 Assessments are done according to EWSETA and SAQA requirements.
5. MV XLPE CABLE JOINTING AND TERMINATING
This Cable Jointing and Termination Course is both theoretical and practical . TERMINATE
This Course will cover the fundamental aspects involved in the correct execution of a termination or joint. Topics such as cable construction, cross-linking, stress control and practical ways in removing semiconductors, jointing and terminating cables will be brought home and provide you with the applied competence. All material application is done according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Duration: 2 Days

8. LOW VOLTAGE CABLES
This Cable Jointing and Termination Course will cover the fundamental aspects involved in the correct execution of a termination or joint. Topics such as cable construction, Cable basic facts, cross-linking, insulation breakdown, practical ways in removing armouring and PVC and jointing and terminating cables will be brought home and provide you with the applied competence according to the following unit standard: Unit standard 258921: Install, joint and terminate Low Voltage cables and conductors (NQF 2)
PRE - REQUISITES
· Application and construction of wire ways. · Use and handling of basic hand tools.
· Use and handling of portable power tools. · Use and knowledge of electrical testing instruments. · Introduction to industry. · Terminology associated with the tools and materials Duration: 3 Days
9. OPERATING REGULATION FOR HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEMS FORAUTHORISED PERSONS
The Occupational Health & Safety Act has laid down the broad Rules and Regulatons on
how to work safely with High Voltage (any voltage above 1000 volts) but it cannot be
Industry Specific as the field is too large to cater for every need.
The ORHVS (Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems) was formulated to be more
specific on the rules and regulations for safe work on High Voltage Equipment and
Apparatus.
· Unit standard 242766 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operating regulations for high voltage systems (NQF Level 5)
Assessments are done according to EWSETA and SAQA requirements

11. CABLE FAULT LOCATION
This course will assist people with finding a fault on an underground cable. There is
various different types and models of test equipment available for fault finding on cables.
The course will explain the different Test equipment and their functions and where they
can be used.
How you can benefit from using the different equipment.
Unit standard 258933 Test, diagnose and locate a fault on a high voltage electrical cable (NQF Level 3) Assessments are done according to EWSETA and SAQA requirements.
