The Cam Profile Technology Module replaces the cam transmission and mechanical cam disks, which are still present in many machines, with powerful electronic servo drives.

Cam-operated switch

The software cam-switch technology function is available on the cam profiler.When the cam profile has reached a specific position, it is possible to start an action. This can be the start of a welding procedure, for example. Once a specific position has been left, the system ends the action again. Users can use WinBASSto freely define the point at which this is to take place and can change it at any time. Users can parameterise up to 32 cam-switches.

Electronic Clutch

In some applications, it can be of benefit not to start the cam profile until a user-defined master axis angle is reached this is known as clutching-in.

The determined compensation is updated in the period and affects the transmission ratio of an electronic transmission.

Networking using CAN

You can easily integrate the cam disk technology module into a group of interconnected machines using the CANsync field bus system. CANsync is based on the CAN standard. An additional hardware signal makes possible a real-time synchronisation capability of 1-8 ms with a transient jitter of 1 us. In this way, the cycle time does not depend on the number of axes.

Applications

The Cam Profile Technology Module can be used for many applications in which simple positioning using a drive is no longer sufficient. The cam

The ‘Cam Profile Technology Module’ software is intended for the mega Driveline hardware. This is a user-programmable closed-loop control card with IEC 1131-3 PLC functionality. Cam-operated switch

The software cam-switch technology function is available on the cam profiler.When the cam profile has reached a specific position, it is possible to start an action. This can be the start of a welding procedure, for example. Once a specific position has been left, the system ends the action again. Users can use WinBASSto freely define the point at which this is to take place and can change it at any time. Users can parameterise up to 32 cam-switches.

Electronic Clutch

In some applications, it can be of benefit not to start the cam profile until a user-defined master axis angle is reached this is known as clutching-in.

In the case of processing stations that are distributed along a web, the register controller ensures high-

profile is synchronised to the master axis. That means the system can always carry out the product processing, such as punching or piercing at exactly the same position regardless of the speed of the master axis.The Cam Profile Technology Module is the ideal solution for the following applications:! precision positioning of the drives to the printing image. The register controller enables all axis to be in registration and to guarantee for example that the printing images are in register. The determined compensation is updated in the period and affects the transmission ratio of an electronic transmission.

Networking using CAN

You can easily integrate the cam disk technology module into a group of interconnected machines using the CANsync field bus system. CANsync is based on the CAN standard. An additional hardware signal makes possible a real-time synchronisation capability of 1-8 ms with a transient jitter of 1 us. In this way, the cycle time does not depend on the number of axes.

The ‘Cam Profile Technology Module’ software is intended for the mega Driveline hardware. This is a user-programmable closed-loop control card with IEC 1131-3 PLC functionality. It can be installed with the servo drive in the standard controller mounting space provided on all Baumüller power units or power modules of the BMS System.
