Executive Summary

● First TEDx event in Prince George ● Theme is dispelling misconceptions ● September 30th 2017 ● Will take place in the Student Conference Centre at UNBC ● Student led event with high levels of community participation ● 100 attendees to main stage, however event space open to public ● Gift bags given to all attendee full of swag and cool items which represent Prince George and Northern BC ● 5-10 speakers chosen by a speaker selection committee

o Call for Speakers put out for the month of May ● TED Community will be established after event to organize future TED events ● 5 levels of partnership available

o Title - $10,000 o Platinum - $7,500 o Gold - $5,000 o Silver - $2,500 o Bronze – in kind or less than $2,500

TEDxUNBC 2017 will be an event which will put UNBC on the map internationally and partners who join us in the event can participate on accomplishing this goal. Partners will receive various benefit depending on what level they choose to donate.

TEDxUNBC 2017 TED is an extremely well known organization. The videos of TED have been seen around the world and have inspired a whole culture around them. TEDx is an opportunity for individuals around the world to organize a TED like event. TEDxUNBC will be Prince George’s first ever TEDx event. It is being lead my UNBC students and alumni, who are committed to creating an event that will be the first in a long line of TEDx events. To organize a TEDx event the community must come together and this is where our partners come in. TEDxUNBC does not refer to our partners as “sponsors” because we realize that when you come on board with TEDxUNBC it is so much more than writing a cheque. Our partners are instrumental to the success of an event. We ask that you not only provide funding to this event but become part of it. This can look like joining us on the day of, promoting TEDxUNBC through your business, or simply telling a friend about TEDxUNBC. Only together can we make this event be everything we dream a TED like event should be. TEDxUNBC will be more than simply speakers giving informative, and captivating talks. It will highlight, technology, entertainment and design throughout the event. This will include local cuisine, impressive researchers from our community, mesmerizing performers and so much more. Our main stage event will only be open to attendees but the whole community is welcome to participate in all the events going on at the university the day of. TEDxUNBC will be on September 30th 2017. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

About TED TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today's leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED's annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth

Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman. TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with

a "wish," or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

Future of the TEDx Community

In considering whether to support this event, one idea must sit at the back of everyone’s mind; this will not be the end. The plan of this event is to be the first in a long line of TEDx events here in Prince George. A non-profit who has in its mandate to create, maintain and develop a TED community here in Prince George can ensure the long-term success of this venture. Part of its mandate will be to highlight the excellence of Prince George to an international market by not just holding events but promoting the videos, and speakers of TED to an international audience. People who participate in TEDx UNBC become more that members of the TED community here in Prince George, but brand ambassadors to carry the message of what UNBC and Prince George have to offer. Partnership options Tier one – Bronze Partner - Less than $2,500 or in kind donation This is the first level of sponsorship, this level grants the most flexibility for sponsors. Companies interested in partnering at this level can choose between cash or in kind donation. If you want to be part of TEDxUNBC and want to donate to a component of the event.

● Logo will be on the TEDx UNBC website until the end of December 2017 ● Logo on certain promotional material for the event except social media

Tier two – Silver Partner - $2,500 This level of sponsorship is open to business who want to contribute and get more visibility that tier one. A cash donation of $2,500 is asked for but in-kind support to the event will also get this level of sponsorship. Benefits

● Name on event program, t-shirts, and company may have a banner at the event. ● Logo will be on the TEDx UNBC website until the end of December 2017 ● Logo on certain promotional material for the event except social media

Tier three – Gold Partner - $5,000 This level of sponsorship is the next level up, as provides greater visibility to the organization which chooses to come in at this price point. Benefits

● Name on event program, t-shirts, and company may have a banner at the event. ● Logo will be on the TEDx UNBC website until the end of December 2017 ● Logo on all promotional material for the event except social media ● Table at the event ● Company item in gift bag

Tier four – Platinum Partner - $7,500 This level of sponsorship is the next level up, as provides greater visibility to the organization which chooses to come in at this price point. It also allows the company to be part of the event main stage aspect, in terms of a thank you at the event. Benefits

● Name on event program, t-shirts, and company may have a banner at the event. ● Logo will be on the TEDx UNBC website until the end of December 2017 ● Logo on all promotional material for the event except social media ● Table in a position of prominence at the event ● Company item in gift bag ● Mention from the stage, however not part of the filmed portion of the event ● Participation in a promotional video for TEDxUNBC, however not an endorsement of

company Tier five – Title Partner - $10,000 This is the highest level of sponsorship and provides the greatest visibility to a company. It will allow the company to be a part of TEDx UNBC in the largest way possible and will give the company industry exclusivity, as long as another sponsor is not already in place, also a right of first refusal for TEDx UNBC 2018. Benefits
