TEENS AND FAMILY.

As youths' peer relationships become more central to their lives, there is less time available to spend with their family members. However, the lack of time is not the only reason.

The family is no longer the only source of social support.

During early and middle adolescent years, there is usually more frequent conflict between teens and their parents.

Page 4: Teenagers

WHY TEENS HAVE THIS KIND OF COMUNICATION WITH THEIR PARENTS?

Sometimes youth avoid conversations with their caregivers because they believe their parents "just won't get it," or anticipate that their worries and concerns won't be taken seriously enough.

Another reason is to prove to themselves, and to their parents, that they can handle life's situations on their own.

Fortunately, this period of uncomfortable tension and conflict between youth and their parents does not go on forever.

COMUNICATION WITH THE TEENS. Communication or talking to other people

and understanding what others say is very important in your life. If people do not communicate, we wouldn't be able to know what others want, what to do or where to go. If you are in class, and you do not understand something, you ask. Then you listen to the explanation and understand what you did not understand earlier.

TEENS AND SCHOOL SUCCES. One of the best indicators of the teens school

performance is wether they feel connected to their schools.

Feeling connected means that students have a sense that they belong and feel close to people including teachers and other adults.

Students who are connected to school also are involved in a rang of school activities.

PARENTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Researchs shows children do better in school

and have more positive attitudes about it when their parents are involved in school life.

Teenagers clearly benefit when their parents show interes.

There are many ways in which parents can become involved in their childs school.

Page 14: Teenagers

LET’S LOOK AT SOME OF THEM.

Communicate with the school. Support your teen in school activities. Involve both parents. Encourage the involvement in leadership

opportunities.

TEENS AND SOCIETY “Teenagers know nothing and do not

help society in the least bit possible.” This is some peoples’ opinion on teenagers, but not all teenagers are like this. A lot of teenagers do help out in society and help to make it better. Some volunteer, work, etc, etc. Not all teenagers are bad! Everyone wants a good society to live in and enjoy.

TEENS AND FOOD.

Page 21: Teenagers

CAUSE’S WHY THEY ARE FAT. One cause is the kind of food they eat. Many

teens like fast food. These foods are full of fat and sugar.

Another cause is the way teens eat. Their little snacks between regular meals add extra fat to the body.

A third cause is too little exercise.

Page 22: Teenagers

TIPS FOR HEALTHY EATING.

Don’t skip meals. Learn about, healthy ways to prepare foods. Sugar – avoid getting to much. Be mindful when eating. Avoid diet thinking.

TEENS AND SLEEP.Research has shown that

teenagers don't get enough sleep at night and go to school tired. Some experts believe the cause is biological. Others believe that teenagers stay up late because of adolescent distractions.

Page 26: Teenagers
Page 27: Teenagers

SO WHY AREN’T TEENS GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP? For one thing, they are staying up late. A

variety of things can contribute to this night-late tendency among teens, including social life, caffe drinks, electronic media such as computers, TVs and cell phones. Other factors include procrastinating on homework, and even depression.

Page 28: Teenagers
Page 29: Teenagers

WHAT DO WE SUGGEST: Encourage a short nap (30 minutes) after

school with the alarm clock set. Encourage a regular bedtime routine to help

them. Encourage your teen to go to bed and get up

at the same time every school day. Cut out late-night phone chats. Avoid arguing with your teen just before

bedtime. Let them sleep in on the weekend, but no

more than 2 or 3 hours later than their usual time

TEENS AND DRUGS

Alcohol, cannabis and tobacco are the most common drugs used by teenagers.

Young people use drugs for many reasons: for fun, out of curiosity, to feel part of a group or to change how they feel because they want to feel better or different.

There is no evidence to support the theory that using cannabis will automatically lead to someone using other drugs such as amphetamines and heroin.

Page 32: Teenagers

CIGARETTE

Page 33: Teenagers

Young people use drugs for similar reasons that adults do – to change how they feel because they want to feel better or different. Reasons may include:

Socialising with friends, peer pressure or the need to feel part of a group

Relaxation or fun Boredom

Reasons teenagers take drugs

Page 34: Teenagers

... Curiosity, experimentation or wanting to take

risks To escape from physiological pain

Page 35: Teenagers

IF YOU SUSPECT YOUR CHILD IS TAKING DRUGS.

There are no specific signs or behaviours that can tell you a young person is definitely using drugs. Uncharacteristic behaviours such as mood swings, a drop in schooling performance, different friends and a changed appearance may indicate drug use – but they could also indicate other issues that are not drug related.

TEENS & CRIME

Why Do Teens Commit Crimes?

Whether the news is discussing a teenage assault or a shooting death, teenage crime is everywhere these days. However, the actuality is that teen crime is decreasing from previous decades. Still, it is interesting to discover why teens commit crime.

Page 37: Teenagers

THEORIES/SPECULATION

There are many reasons why teenagers could be influenced into committing crimes. One reason is their inexperience and youth. A lot of times being young and having a lack of experience can lead teenagers into dangerous and often criminal situations, such as joining gangs, taking or dealing drugs and drinking.

Page 38: Teenagers
Page 39: Teenagers

CHARACTERISTICS OF VIOLENT CHILDREN

Most, but not all children who go on to commit violent crimes share the following characteristics: Narcissism, (a feeling that you are special and superior to everyone else and that other people have no rights).

A history of animal cruelty and cruelty to other children, social isolation, repeated defiance of authority and a history of minor juvenile offenses, and unhealthy obsessions with death, violence and starting fires.

Page 40: Teenagers

HOW TO PREVENT TEENS FROM COMMITTING CRIMES

Provide a stable family life for your teen.

Find someone to mentor your teen.

Encourage your teen to get involved in activities.

TEENS AND TECHNOLOGY . Today teens live in a world enveloped by

comunication techonologies: the internet and the cell phones have become a central force that fuels the rhythm of daily life.

The number of teenager using the internet has grown 24% . Not only the number of users increased, but also the variety of technologies that teens use to support their comunication, research and entertainment desires has grown.

PEER PRESSURE Peer pressure is the influence exerted by a

peer group or an individual, encouraging other individuals to change their attitudes, values, or behaviors in order to conform to groupnorms

Page 48: Teenagers

WHAT MAKE TEENS GIVE IN TO PEER PRESSURE:

Low self esteem. Lack of confidence. Feeling isolated from peers/ or family. Lack of direction in life. Depression. Poor academic abilities or performance. Ect…

Page 49: Teenagers
Page 50: Teenagers

HOW TO WALK AWAY FROM PEER PRESSURE

Its not easy to be the only one who says “no” to peer pressure, but you can do it.

Page 51: Teenagers

….

Paying attention to you’re your own feelings and beliefs about what is right and wrong can help you to know the right thing to do.

“Choose your friends wisely” You can simply stay away from peers who

pressure you to do stuff you know is wrong. You can tell them no and walk away.

Talk to someone you trust. This help you feel much better and prepare you for the next time you face peer pressure.

FASHION AND YOUTH It is very importan to understand the words

“fashion” and “youth”. The period of transition froom childhood into adulthood is known us ‘youth’. This age is full of rapid changes. It is full of social and cultural contradictions with the adults.

Fashion is an extremely important component of teenage life.

Page 57: Teenagers
Page 58: Teenagers
Page 59: Teenagers

HERE ARE SOME OF THE POSITIVE POINTS OF FASHION:

It helps teens to find like-minded friends. Teens get to express themselves and their

individuality. Teens get to establish their own identity. It gives teens a sense of control in their lives

in an unpredictable world

Page 60: Teenagers

HERE ARE SOME OF THE DISADVANTAGES OF FASHION IN REGARDS TO YOUTH:

Boys are starting to look like girls. Girls try to look "edgy" or conform to racist

stereotypes Some styles tend to reflect self-harm. The trends come and go, meaning they must spend

lots of money. People criticize youth for their fashion choices. Some of the school dress codes are arguably too

strict. Clothes tends to cost too much. Those who aren't dressed to the standards of their

peers are ridiculed by them. The most insecure may commit crimes to get the

latest fashions.

TEENS AND ♥

Page 63: Teenagers

♥ Loving and being loved adds richness to our

lives. When people feel close to others they are happier and even healthier. Love helps us feel important, understood, and secure.

But each kind of love has its own distinctive feel. The kind of love we feel for a parent is different from our love for a baby brother or best friend. And the kind of love we feel in romantic relationships its a own unique type of love.

Page 64: Teenagers

♥ Our ability to feel romantic love develops

during adolescence. Teens all over the world notice passionate feelings of attraction. Even in cultures where people are not allowed to act on or express these feelings, they're still there. It's a natural part of growing up to develop romantic feelings and sexual attractions to others. These new feelings can be exciting — or even confusing at first.

Page 65: Teenagers

♥ __ ♥

Page 66: Teenagers

..

The longer I study lost loves and lost love reunions, the clearer it becomes to me how important young love really is. First love, young love, is indeed real love. This intense love does not come along every ten minutes. For some people, it may come only once in a lifetime.

Page 67: Teenagers

The message.

" Don't let any emotion control you because you are the owner of your life, you're going to be a master of yourself." Sometimes our bad mood will affect our daily life. Don't let it go wild, believe in yourself and you can do everything better! " Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Someday is not a day of the week."

You should never say I will do something someday. Do it now.
