Brazilian Health System • The Unified Health System (SUS) is exclusively responsible for providing health care to 78.8% of Brazilian population, and it is the primary network of public health institutions that provide, support, and manage health services;• The remaining 21.2% of the population, which are covered by the Supplementary System, is also entitled to access the health services provided by SUS;• In addition to these functions, SUS is also responsible for health surveillance, disease control, and regulation of the health sector.

ISO 13131 QUALITY CRITERIA FOR TELEHEALTH

STANDARDS FOR TELEHEALTH:• The Brazilian Standards Association (ABNT) has worked towards adopting and developing standards to support TeleHealth;• One of the most important standards in discussion in the ISO world now, is the ISO 13131 – Quality Criteria for Quality Criteria for Services and Systems for TeleHealthServices and Systems for TeleHealth. The standard is in the “Committee Draft” stage, which means it still can get plenty of contribution from members;• DICOM is part of the Joint Initiative Council which means that DICOM members can take part in ISO meetings.
